Obviously, the Bills would start the rematch down 3.

(what's wrong with me?)

The Bills just sitting back chilling and letting this play out right now is bush league. Forfeit.

Give top two seeds a bye like how it used to be.

IF Bills want to forfeit both games to give players time mentally. Then adding three more WC spots doesn't screw up the Pats getting in automatically because the Bills forfeit. Players/Owners/TV everyone would make more money expanding the playoffs.

Then Bengals can't complain about WHAT IF Chiefs don't win and they can get that #1 seed because yes they might still only get the #2 seed BUT they do get a bye week which would be a good compromise regardless if KC beats Raiders.

This would mean that on the AFC side, the Steelers, Jets and Phins would get into the playoffs. Thats a lot of TV ratings IMO

Would look kinda like this:

#1-KC Bye
#2-Cinzy Bye

#3-Bills vs #10(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#4-Jags vs #9(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#5-Chargers vs #8(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#6-Ravens vs #7-Pats

Yes its crazy but damn that would make for a very exciting Playoffs! Looks like on the NFC side teams like Seattle, Lions and Saints might be the 3 extras. Makes the Bucs getting the #4 seed with maybe a 8-9 record not taste so bad.

Are you giving KC and Cincy TWO bye weeks each because you’d have 6 teams left playing after the Wildcard round. How does that work?

So the only way that works is if the top teams get 2 byes....so you didn't think that through

Pasta Little Brioni 01-03-2023 11:25 PM

8 teams no bye or the game is a no contest...only plausible outcomes

I mostly want to know if, should Patrick Mahomes suffer an in jury in say week 12 one season and be forced to miss 4 games, should we expand the playoffs to ensure the Chiefs get a spot? I mean that has a far greater impact on the competitive balance of the league than this will.

It's unthinkable to me that the ideas put forward have gotten progressively worse over the last 12 hours and yet...here we are.

An NFL Skills competition next Monday between Allen, Mahomes and Burrow makes more sense than about 90% of what's been suggested to this point and would be DAMN entertaining.

So many idiots, so little time.

Jamie 01-03-2023 11:26 PM

I could see them eliminating the bye by adding an 8th playoff team, to lessen the advantage of the 1 seed. Not advocating it, but I could see it.

Anything outside of Denver is out of his league.
