For Chris it is simply:

cash >football

This isn't doing Jones or the team any good at this point.

My marriage has become sexless over this. I’m up all night refreshing Chiefs Planet dot com (hoping to read good news), while my wife begs me to come to bed.

Chris is ruining my life and doesn’t seem to care.

I mean, if Orlando Brown hadn't taken his n00b diabetic soulmate agent to heart, he'd be one of the top paid left tackles in the league right now and still blocking for Mahomes. Pretty sure Jones was around for that lesson on how not to negotiate a contract, but, here the **** we are.

90’s: Run the ball and play defense
00’s: Play good football
10’s: Waiting for Mahomes
20’s: Score moar points

So lets talk trade compensation - obviously if the trade team had a player we were interested in there might be a swap of players - but from a pure player for picks standpoint and keeping in mind Jones is 30 (Tyreek was 27):

Trade Proposal #1:
2024 1st
2025 3rd

Trade Proposal #2:
2024 2nd
2024 3rd
2025 4th

Trade Proposal #3:
2024 2nd
2025 2nd
2025 3rd

Thoughts?

He'd have to wait until after this season to be traded. No way KC gets the return they'd want for him at this point in the offseason. Cap numbers are set, limiting your suitors BIGTIME.

while proposal #3 gives us the best chance at multiple good players, I love proposal 1, because we could package and move up for an elite difference maker, which is something that will likely elude us as long as we are drafting in the last four picks.

Yeah there’s no trade until the off-season

He’s got some leverage if the chiefs defense shits itself early I guess

Definitely this.

FlaChief58 09-04-2023 05:08 PM

I wouldn't be mad with either 1 or 3.

O.city 09-04-2023 05:08 PM

Give me the amount of high rounders over a single higher one

Just keep mining good players and let the rest take care of itself

And hopefully we do it with the cards (not likely) or Panthers or someone like that.

Also worth considering. Typically teams trading before the draft value a pick in the draft a year forward about a round later than the upcoming draft because you’re essentially trading an asset about to produce for an asset that won’t be producing for another year (equivalent to the present value of money). So trading for a 2024 1st now should be worth less than a normal 1st before the draft because we have an entire season without any asset that produces.

That said, we’re in a fairly bad situation at the moment that we didn’t anticipate being in.

I’d do cartwheels over a 2024 1 and a 3 to just move on and wipe the slate clean.

Unless a team thinks he is the final piece to a Championship run...
