Ok.....idea here.

What if we split the Veteran draft into two parts and put the Rookie draft in the middle?

Kind of like how there are two parts of FA with the real draft in the middle.

Rounds 1 - 16
Rookie Draft
Rounds 17 - 33

What does everyone think?

I kind of like that idea. You get the main pieces of your team, and can then try and get the rookies you want, then polish your turd.

My thoughts exactly......just not in the same words.

Plus that would elminate the trades for rookie draft picks for the second half.

That's fine with me...

It's up to Rainman....since it's his game.

It would add something too this whole thing. We'd be able to see who is left and on trade down and ups use the 2nd vet draft to manuever. That might be the only down fall since thats not realistic. If no one wants to be able to use vet picks to trade in the rookie draft we could make that a rule I suppose.....just throwing ideas out not sure if it's relavent.

Yeah....I think that once we transition into the Rookie draft.....trading Veteran draft picks is not allowed.

I was even pondering doing the two simultaneous at some point, so we keep drafting vets but then start up the rookie draft at some point, say Round 16. Would that be confusing?

When did we start this? We've got 33 veteran rounds, so we're roughly 1/4 through. Seems like we don't have a major time crunch, but I don't know.

I brought up this point earlier as an unrelated point, and got a good reception. Instead of unnamed "scrubs", do we have a final round (each year) where we each pick an NFL team and fill out our 53-man roster with whoever's not on someone else's roster already? I kind of like that because it gives us a full roster and also a chance to accidentally discover a diamond in the rough who could then make the team the following year.

I think we could do the two drafts simutaneous. We just may need another thread for the rookie draft which shouldn't be a problem.

I think it may be easier for everyone to concentrate on....if we stop the veteran draft for the rookie draft. JMO though.

Mile High Mania 06-03-2009 04:42 PM

I'd like to trade OUT of the rookie draft if possible... so, make me offers for those picks and you guys can have fun in the rookie draft.

phillips was a thought of mine but i'm hoping there will be good players around when I pick sometime next week LOL

It's not that I hate the guy... just figure I could get something for him from a bunch of KC homers. I don't think he was a R1 talent, but that's where the previous owner of MML grabbed him.

I'd be fine with 1 of 3 remaining QBs at this point...

So, to get back into Round 10... anyone interested in taking Cassel and then looking at picks between rounds 12-18 as extra compensation?

I have Cassell pegged as a R3 guy in this set up... there were 13 QBs taken in the first 3 rounds, I wouldn't have taken Cassell over any of them ... I don't believe.

So, if you want him, treat him as R3-4 value and make an offer for him based on that...

Okay, let me ask. I don't care either way. Would anyone have a problem with inserting the rookie draft into the middle of the veteran draft?

Neither really affects the other... why not?

Ultra Peanut 06-03-2009 05:24 PM

That would be fine.
