Yes he stood on his head for the panthers but he never took them to the playoffs and while the teams in front of him were not that great to me it means he's not a truly elite goalie. Brodeur has not played well and although he is considered one of the best puck-handling goalies of all time he made a couple of critical mistakes. I don't see them going with Luongo and winning gold. Just my opinion ; I could be wrong. Watch the canucks in the playoffs this year. They won't make it past round 2 and he'll be a big part of that.

When Luongo's not fighting the puck he's the best in the world. His positioning is nearly perfect, he has good size, good instincts and great speed.
I've seen games that I was certain could've gone for 160 minutes with 80 SOG and nothing was getting by Luongo. He has as much raw talent as any goalie I've ever seen.
You'll never know what you have in him if you don't give him a chance. Canada is behind the 8-ball right now, it's time for them to swing for the fences. Another 'off' game by an aging Brodeur and you guys are going home without a medal. Put your most talented goalie out there and trust that he has the fortitude to carry you. He's the only chance you have against an absolutely loaded Russian squad.
I respect the hell out of Brodeur, but Luongo is the only way you win the 4 in a row you're going to need. Get him in, get him hot, and hope. Luongo has a level to his game that Brodeur no longer has. Put him between the pipes and hope he finds it.
