I don't think so.

It was pretty easy to tell in 2010 what was going on. Cassel was a nightmare until that small stretch in the season's second half.

At minimum, we need "Casshole rapes the NFC West" level of play for Alex Smith to be considered as "playing well."

The honest to god problem with this is your best player is Jamaal Charles. You have ONE receiver that is a bonafide NFL starter. The strength of your offense is built around the Oline, and Jamaal Charles. Until other receivers step up, im afraid that the malcontents aren't going to be happy.

What happened to the "The 9ers were gonna suck in 2011 until the season was actually played, good coaching does this etc" rhetoric?

How do we know the WR's are going to suck? Maybe with an offensive guru at HC we actually have guys who don't suck?

Great QB play makes everyone else better.

Andrew Luck had no running game, Reggie Wayne and hot garbage, and he managed to throw for damn near 4,400 yards and win 10 games.

I see the excuses are already starting for one Alex Smith.

That wasn't the point. The point is that the emphasis is going to be to get the ball into Charles hands as much as possible in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that in my opinion. I expect that Alex Smith will have a nice chemistry with Bowe. I don't know how he will mesh with the others, mainly because I never really have seen Baldwin play that much.

I'm not trying to make an excuse, obviously QB play will make everyone better. I also think Smith is good enough to atleast see what we've got at skill positions.

Hell, that's a terrible comparison. Cassel didn't play well, he dumped the ball off to guys who racked up a metric ****ton of YAC against piss-poor defenses.

Well, I would disagree. He played pretty well during that stretch. Not elite level QB play, but winning QB play. He was particularly good against the Titans and Cardinals.

Alex needs to be at and above that level for me to be satisfied.

I'M NOT A HARD ****ING MAN TO PLEASE

lol. Sighs. Yeah, having to come back as often as the Colts did, had zero to do with the fact that Andrew Luck had to throw a lot, and a lot of the reason he had to do that, was learning on the job and the mistakes he made. But of course, absolutely. Its Alex Smiths fault that he is on a team whose best player is the running back, the number one pick in the draft was a tackle, and they have a pro bowler on the left side. Stupid Alex Smith................

I was talking about Alex Smith's personal nut-warmer, not you.

He's already set up the "what did you expect you have no talent?" excuse.

Shrugs. It all depends on how Andy Reid uses him. Alex Smith says that Andy Reid plays to his players strengths. The strength of the Chiefs offense, is Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, and the offensive line. Alex Smiths strengths are reading the defense, checking into the proper play, and handing off, and playaction.

That is not how people that want to always tell me how terrible Alex Smith is, want to believe that is how Andy is going to use him.

Donnie Avery had almost 800 yards with Luck last season.

And Dwayne Bowe better be WELL OVER 1,000 yards or Alex Smith is a POS.

The "excuses" will fly from all ends.

The WR slips to the ground as the ball is mid-air and the DB intercepts... "The receiver had to adjust to the awful pass and that made him slip! So Alex is responsible, that asshole!"

... and round and round it will go... :)

The Chiefs do not have an elite set of receiving options across the board. They do not have the Bengals, Falcons, Broncos, Saints, Packers, Texans, or even Vikings receiving options. To say that to you, is an excuse. The Chiefs are built around the offensive line, and Jamaal Charles. Dwayne Bowe is very good. Can Alex Smith get him the ball. I have no idea.....

Not making excuses. THE STRENGTH OF THE CHIEFS OFFENSE IS JAMAAL CHARLES, AND THE OFFENSIVE LINE. Please, feel free to argue that with me.

If they gave up what they gave up for a guy who can ONLY do that and they ONLY expect him to do that, they got ass ****ed.

He's going to have to do more than that for us to win and be successful here, in this offense, because while I don't think Reid will have him winging it deep, he's going to have him throwing the ball ALOT more than he was in SF.
