Of course, even getting to that game is going to be a serious challenge tomorrow. |

Who else is going to be at Sprint Center tomorrow?

You truly never know which KU team will show up tomorrow... but I assume both teams will be fired up. I expect a good game tomorrow. But, I don't expect a win. I think we have a good chance. This team has been too inconsistent for me to be 100%.
In my brackets, I have Florida going to the final four from our region. You'd think with 4 seniors, we'd be rolling. This squad just doesn't know how to put their foots on their opponents throat. We could easily win this game, too. It's really hard to say. I'm so wishy-washy about it. This will certainly be a KU crowd, with KSU losing to LaSalle. LOL. So, that insures less haters in the crowd. |
Someone needs to get the thread staRted!

What is everyone's thoughts on tomorrow's game? You feel good? Bad?

Kansas plays up/down to their competition many times...I think they play MUCH better this game against UNC than they did against WKU.
Sprint Center is gonna be rockin' with Roy coming back to town. It's the closest thing KU fans are going to see to a home game against UNC because Roy won't ever "come out of the visiting locker room at AFH". Get Ready... |

http://www2.kusports.com/weblogs/fiv...-carolina-doe/ 1. Pace: UNC plays the 18th-fastest pace nationally, and KU is a team that plays much better offensively when it can get into a running game. UNC coach Roy Williams said Saturday his team wasn't going to change its style against KU, which means the Tar Heels are likely to play a high-possession game against a better team. 2. James Michael McAdoo: A lot of people have been concerned that the four-guard lineup could give KU's defense problems, but there is one big difference between UNC's small lineup and Iowa State's: UNC has an anchor in the middle in McAdoo. The sophomore has only shot two threes all year, and while he has shot a lot of jumpers (unsuccessfully), his range won't be enough to take KU center Jeff Withey away from the bucket. Much like Kansas State forwards Thomas Gipson or Jordan Henriquez, McAdoo should allow KU to "anchor" Withey in the lane defensively, which is where he is at his best blocking shots and rotating as a help defender. UNC will have stretch 4s in Bullock and Hairston, but KU has a better lineup to counter that this year compared to last. A season ago, a four-guard look was tough because KU had two true post players in Thomas Robinson and Withey. Robinson is gone now, and Kevin Young is one of KU's best players at closing out on three-point shooters. 3. UNC's struggles against big teams: Since going to the four-guard lineup, North Carolina's worst games have come against bigger teams in Duke and Miami. As mentioned above, UNC was dominated on the glass in those games, and KU also should have success scoring if it's able to get the ball inside to allow Withey, Young and Perry Ellis to go after undersized defenders. The one wildcard is UNC's three-point shooting, but barring a Wichita State-like effort there, I see KU — in front of a fired-up crowd — winning this one going away. |

I stole this from over at the phog. I know most of this know all of this, but it's still kind of cool to see it all lined up. I think you could even add in that Wilt was so devastated by the loss to Carolina in the '57 title game that he wouldn't return to KU until being invited back to have his jersey retired for the 100th anniversary by Roy Williams.
It's interesting to see the way the history of these two great programs has interwoven through the years. Here's a little timeline to display the history. 1891: James Naismith invents the game of basketball. 1898-1907: Naismith serves as the first head basketball coach at the University of Kansas. 1904-1906: Phog Allen plays under Naismith at Kansas. 1907-1909: Naismith stops coaching and Allen serves as Kansas' second head basketball coach before leaving on a medical school hiatus. 1919: Allen returns to be the head coach at Kansas. 1951-1954: Emporia native Dean Smith plays basketball under Allen. He then serves as an assistant head coach during the '53-'54 season. 1961: Smith is named the head coach at the University of North Carolina. 1961-1963: Larry Brown plays under Smith at North Carolina. 1978-1988: Roy Williams serves as an assistant coach under Smith at North Carolina. 1980-1984: Matt Doherty plays for Smith at North Carolina. 1983: Brown is named the head coach at Kansas. 1985-1986: Bill Self serves as a graduate assistant under Brown. 1988: Williams is named the head coach at Kansas following Brown's departure for the NBA. 1992-1999: Doherty serves as an assistant coach at Kansas under Williams. 2000: Doherty is named the head coach at North Carolina. 2003: Doherty resigns at North Carolina. Williams departs Kansas to take the head coaching job at North Carolina. Self accepts the head coaching job at Kansas. |

UNC is not awesome. They haven't beat anybody very good. Their personnel are down some. But they have personnel setup that has given us problems in the past. This team should beat them pretty hard. But they've laid so many eggs it's hard to have any confidence at all. |

We need to see the KU that has "swag" come out today.

Handle the press
Shoot the ball well |
Unc is 0-6 vs rpi top 25. KU is 5-1. If unc won today it would be a surprise. Vegas favors KU by 6.

I'll go ahead and say I expect a great effort from the team today. And if that's the case I think we win by double digits. I'll say KU by 12.
But, that's why they play the games. |

Last year though, losing our starting point guard and having to use a player that is on a redshirt year because he is on a mission trip is not an own game... This year we have an unranked team that I thought would not even make the NIT about 15 games ago... they are better now but there is no pressure whatsoever on us, no one is picking us to win... |
UNC is 6-4 against KU all-time... so we still owe you a couple. :-D
|
I'll say this again.
KU in many ways this season has played up/down to their competition. They will most certainly be up for this game. It's against another blue blood school, it's against Roy. They'll be up for it against a home crowd that wants to see Self kick Roy's ass again. I expect EJ to have a hell of a game, same w/ McLemore. |

Oh, Kimmie. You just don't know when to shut up.
I have no clue how Jeff Withey scores or gets O boards.. By far the easiest of all the Big men I had to guard last season.<script async="" src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Soren fat-ass claiming Releford wanted to go to UNC but wasn't offered. I recall Travis being a KU lean ever since he hit high school. He committed right after his junior year. I've never heard this about Travis so I'd like somebody to call up fat ass on the radio tomorrow and ask him to prove his statement.

I'm sure Burke will make us look pretty stupid at times, but I thong Withey can offset some of that if he stays out of foul trouble. Hardaway is the one I'm worried about. Dude has ice in his veins and it seems like he never ever misses. I'm excited, but Michigan is uber talented and if they hadn't had a few dumbass attacks through the year should have been #1 overall. We are going to have to come out swinging. And McLemore needs to find his game. Like yesterday. |
When's the S16 game?

Releford posted a pic of himself and his family on twitter a couple weeks ago when he was in junior high and he was wearing a KU shirt. He said 'can you tell I knew where I wanted to go to school for a long time.' |
Elijah (senior guard Johnson, five points, 1-of-6 shooting with four assists, two turnovers) asked, ‘What are we going to do to change this?’ I said, ‘Win,’’’ Young related.

They are going to have to figure out a new pregame ritual, especially for McLemore.
He really is rattled by the big stage, wonder if NBA scouts have noticed how he disappears on the road and in prime time. |

Every game that Michigan lost this year (with the exception of one vs. MSU) involved a subpar game for Burke. So this one will likely come down to how effective Burke is/how effective KU is in stopping him. McGary's development as a player makes it a bit more complicated, but Burke is the guy that makes everything run for them.
Putting up points against Michigan's mediocre defense may also prove to be important. They simply cannot afford to go through those long stretches of awful play against top level teams. |
