ESPN is saying it's this year's #1 plus next year's #1 and Orton for Cutler and a #3 this year.

Man the draft just got a whole lot more intriguing...esp. if Detroit takes Stafford.

This is where we stick to them and make them our bitch.

Gotta give it up to the donks, they may have messed up their QB situation but they still screwed the Bears in the trade.

Beerfund 04-02-2009 03:39 PM

To acquire Cutler, the Bears had to give up quarterback Kyle Orton and first-round picks in 2009 and 2010 according to espn

They damn well better sign somebody.

Personally, I think I'll start a pool for who gets the career-ending shot on Cutler next season. My money's on Jared Allen.

That's why you don't take RB's who saw alot of carries with high picks...

Childress should be fired for that alone if that's the case. Cutler, Peterson = scary, scary good

This is all really quick and dirty, but if you assume that one-year-later = a one-round drop in value when it comes to draft choices, I figure the deal netted Denver a chart value of around 1300 for Cutler, plus Orton (who I'd say has very little value at all). That's equivalent to the #10 pick.

Even if you assume that the Bears' first's value next year is roughly equivalent to what it's worth this year, that still only puts the total value at the equivalent of our #3 pick. That's not at all too much for a franchise QB.

Pioli needs to schedule to bring in Sanchez for a workout, stat!

Buck 04-02-2009 03:41 PM

Chiefs should take Sanchez or Stafford if available just to **** w/ the Broncos, and then trade one of their QBs for a first next year.

Not sure if he has much left in the tank but Holt is still out there.

I like how every analyst they've talked to on NFLN have said what a great deal this is for the Bears, how it's impossible to overpay for a franchise QB.

Then read the comments here about how the Donks got over on the Bears...

LMAO

The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for No. 1 draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the Sun-Times has learned.
The Bears receive the Broncos' fifth-round draft pick this year.

Cutler, 25, is coming off a Pro Bowl season with the Broncos, but he became disgruntled and wanted a trade after learning Denver was considering a deal for quarterback Matt Cassel.

It doesn't matter what they got until Josh proves he can be an HC. So far he's shipped off their pro Bowl QB for unproven players.
