I've never participated in the Simply Red or mecca threads. If you don't want to participate, don't. If you can't even stand the thought of seeing them, even though you are not participating maybe this forum is not for you or maybe you should use the ignore feature more often. Just a suggesion.

Exactly, i dont see how anyone could maintain 'journalistic objectivity/distance' in a situation like that... most people would have to get involved.

Haiti had problems with looters, thieves and mob action before the earthquake. What a total cluster fuck. I won't be surprised at all if some of the american troops on site to keep peace and supervise relief supply aren't attacked in the next couple days. Just a bad, bad scene. If I were there, I'd get the hell out and never go back.

The main thing I'm sending is prayers. And some cash. I think the prayers might be almost as needed as the cash.

Kids getting hurt is a horrible heart breaker - regardless of anything else.

Don't care about him being gay. but, him being a graduate of Yale, Vanderbilt rich and then choosing to be a reporter elevates him in my opinion. bias or not at least he's doing what he loves and takes it seriously.
