Bottom line ... it's his decision and he's made it. Maybe it's more than $ to him and if so, why do we care?

The "he's dumb" talk is based on the fact that he's risking potentially millions all to come back for another year. See Matt Leinart, Jake Locker. |

You may well believe it. In fact it may even be true. But the bottom line is that the owners are going to change things up and this is most assuredly a place where the owners and the NFLPA are going to settle on a common enemy. When there is so little room for agreement, any consensus is held onto like grim death. There's no way in the world this won't be an area they fall back to in order to keep things progressing. That's just the nature of contentious negotiations. Time will pretty much prove this to be true. |

The NFLPA doesn't have a hell of a lot of leverage here, brave faces be damned. Those guys are going to get antsy much sooner than the owners will and it seems like fans tend to turn on the players before the owners as well. If the players held all the cards here you might be right - but they don't. They're going to have to give up something and they really don't have a lot to play with. This is an area that they can yield on without hurting themselves too badly. I'm not saying they'll do it out of the kindness of their hearts or that they'll do it unanimously. I'm saying that they'll do it grudgingly because it's one of the few palatable options they have. |
