Sure, in early 2009 Pioli thought Cassel was capable of becoming a solid NFL starting QB. He also thought McD was capable of being a solid NFL HC (as did Denver, obviously).

He's not locked into those positions forever. Data develops and impressions/opinions change. Just because he hired Haley in 2008 doesn't mean he's hiring him in 2012 also...

And it's amazing how often that happened in 2010. Jamal Charles is pretty good.

It's pretty obvious. Pioli wants Casel....McDaniels wanted Cassel...Romeo or any other coach we hire will most likely be saddled with Cassel regardles so I'd say a hiring of McDaniels just confirms Cassel will be the starter.

So let me get this straight.

Pioli is talking to Josh for the OC position which means

A) Pioli will force Josh upon any HC he chooses which means ----> The next head coach is a "Yes, Sir" type coach who will do whatever pleases Pioli to keep his job (Cassel as QB)

B) Pioli has chosen Romeo as his next HC but he's trying to find him an OC. This goes against what Romeo said in his first presser "The next HC should choose his assistants". This goes back to point A.

OR

C) Pioli is going to hire Josh as his HC.

If that's the case....then Pioli is bringing in McDaniels because he's worked with both.
