I just don't EVER like letting ANY pass rushers go.

Ive always hated it when we do.

Guys like Gilberry play bigger roles than just the amount of sacks they get themselves...they open up the pass rush for guys like Hali and Houston to cause havoc.

Last year, the abilities of guys like Bailey and Gilberry masked the lacking abilities of our safeties ALL YEAR.

Also, who cares if Belcher isn't a good coverage linebacker?

I don't.

The guy is a terrific, 24 year old thumper with 2 years starting experience for Romeo Crennel... and comes off the field in passing situations.

Saying we should upgrade Belcher because he isnt good in coverage is a little like saying we should upgrade Hali because he cant cover Ray Rice in man coverage.

I would like to keep Gilberry but at the right price.

In58men 02-10-2012 04:25 PM

We'll spend 23 mil this offseason

O.city 02-10-2012 04:28 PM

LIke said earlier in this thread, we need to really spend this offseason as next offseason there won't be a ton to spend on.

This is a big season for the Chiefs to put people in the seats. Better make a splash. You could bring in Manning and the other free agents we have talked about, make a 3 or 4 year run and keep drafting well.

Next year is the year to draft the franchise qb in the first.

$64 million?

Sign Bowe, Carr, Nicks and Soliai.

Hopefully, Daboll has SOME value and gets us the inside track on this one.

Am I the only one who thinks this cap space has more to do with Carl Peterson then Scott Pioli? Outside of the '08 draft we've had I think 2 players in Carl Petersons era get second contracts. It will be 3 with Bowe, but that is still ridiculous how bad we were at drafting under Carl. That is where I believe all this money is coming from. It also helps that we resigned Jamaal Charles and DJ well under the market value

It also helps that our big FA signings under Pioli are Steve Breaston and a bunch of guys like Brandon Siler.

Exactly htis.

This is why we decided to save all this money, for times like this. It's time to spend. If Clark is serious about winning, now is the time.

Show us Clark. I have my doubts.

After he gave Hali, Charles and Johnson new contracts?

'at the right price' is the key, plus he needs to slim back down & accept his role as a situational guy.

He did pay those guys. I give them credit.

But we are still tons and tons under the cap. They have said that they saved money to pay for the guys they draft when the second contract comes around. Well that time is now.

IMO this offseason is really huge. We could potentially come out as a force in the AFC, or another pos Chief team that might win a few games next year.

The new strategy is to build under the draft. Since you have younger players, they are cheaper, especially with the new rookie scale. CP could have never done that because he drafted so horribly. He was always looking to fill holes with expensive FAs.

O.city 02-10-2012 05:20 PM

Yes whoman that was/is the way they are going. Now it's time to pay those guys that were drafted.

I tend to agree.

It's important to bring both the big guns (Bowe/Carr) AND the important role players as well (Gilberry).
