I might lash out too. |
Just so we're clear...
Nothing changes if the boy hadn't been a boy. It's still illegal. It's still assault. There is no way to defend this man's actions. The fact that he was a boy makes this twice as despicable. Putting your hands on someone because they annoyed you is something that children do. |
I just don't get why so many parents can't control their kids.
But yeah, losing a tooth -- that was no open hand slap. |

In 1961, I got in a real fight at recess. Both of us came back to the room with black eyes. No big deal, the teacher knew our parents would deal with us that night. In 8th grade wood shop, our teacher, Mr. Atherton was well known for giving spats out in the hall with a wood paddle. You bent over and grabbed your ankles. You could hear it all over the school, and all the teachers knew it. No biggie. |

Furthermore, just this year my eldest grandson got into a situation. He goes to HS in Keller Texas.
The rule is, that the other kid has to swing at you three times before you can retaliate without punishment. David counted, 1, then 2, then 3 before he beat the other kid. (black belt) I admired him for waiting, but just can't imagine the self control that would require. He still got suspended. |
I think one of the biggest problems we have now with all these goddamned unruly brats running around is the lack of corporal punishment. I got my ass paddled by the principal a time or two. Did it scar me for life? Of course not. And my mom would beat my ass with whatever was handy.
I guess if these things happened today, the principal and my mom would be thrown in jail. |
I want to know what a 10 year old was doing at the theater at 10 PM on a Wednesday night.

I don't condone regular physical punishment, but knowing it was a possibility, was certainly a deterrent. I bet it changed the life of the kid in the OP, he may amount to something now. :D |
