It's for sure no surgery? How long are they thinking he will miss?

Would you guys kick the tires on Shawn Merriman?

If they have even an ounce of doubt in their mind that the knee is not sound, it is their job to keep him off the field.

Stop making excuses.

Awesome.....our 2 best players on defense (not counting DJ) prob won't suit up for week 1.

Gotta agree here. In these situations, it's not up to the player. If it's hurt, doesn't matter what he says.

If he tore it the first time, there is no excuse for him to be back on the field.

No Injured-Reserve For Kendrick Lewis

August 19, 2012 - Bob Gretz |

Romeo Crennel said Sunday evening that Kendrick Lewis is “going to be down for a little bit,” but the starting free safety is not a candidate to go on the injured-reserve list because of the shoulder injury he suffered Saturday night in St. Louis.

“He’ll probably be in a sling for a couple days and then we will start rehabbing and see how quickly he can come along,” Crennel told the media. “He is not an IR candidate.”

Crennel said that no surgery was required for the injury. It’s the same shoulder that he injured last season and underwent surgery once the season was over. The head coach confirmed it was the same shoulder, but a different injury than the one he dealt with last year.

“He has to rest the shoulder and have it immobilized for a little bit before we can start some movement and exercise,” said Crennel. “We will see how quickly we can get him back.”

Yes, I'm going to listen to someone who has an agenda...

Milkman debunked this bullshit anyway.

He hasn't been the same since he had to stop roiding up.

Gotta say, Clay might have been right on this one. If it's the same thing DMC had and LJ, he might miss the whole season.

If it is torn it is torn. Not like he was going to injure it more.

How would they know anything was tore initially?

Players get hurt, come off, then tweak again. That's it.

Stop fueling Clays dumbassery and acting like there is some kind of conspiracy.

This is exactly how it was with LJ.

At first it seemed very innocuous...oh, it's just a bruise...he'll be back soon....weeks started piling up....

Then give him some sauce! He'll at least get a few games in before they nail him with another test. By then it won't matter because our regulars will be back.

There's no conspiracy.

It's just the way this regime does things.

They lie about injuries.

I read "if" and "might." There is nothing to indicate this is an injury that will even keep him out of the first game much less the whole season.

If Matt Cassel plays like Aaron Rodgers we might win the Super Bowl

Troll.

I doubt it's a sprain.

How long has he been hurt?

It's also noteworthy (in clays favor) that there was a report that BF was getting it checked out by multiple doctors to see why it hasn't healed.

I don't buy it for a second that the team doctors would miss something to the point where the player would feel compelled to get other opinions.

Sure does smell like the team is brushing something under the rug...
