WiMax is FAR from dead. That's crazy talk. It is dying for sure. But saying it's dead implies that the millions of devices no longer work and no longer have damn fast speeds. They still work and they are still fast. I don;t know of any set in stone plan to decommission the WiMax network.
As for Sprint LTE they currently are online in 19 metropolitan areas across Kansas, Georgia, Texas and Missouri. AND will have full coverage in TWO years. With 100 more cities online in the next few (my guess is 6) months.
In a perfect world, I'd like to see Sprint offer dual-access phones that can load balance both LTE and WiMax. That would be pretty freaking awesome and would blow the DOORS off anything else on the market.
