About 10 years after I became a Chiefs fan, I found out that my maternal grandfather played for the Redskins in the 50's (my mom is adopted and didn't have any contact with her real father until right before he died several years ago). I've thought several times about switching my fandom to the Redskins for family reasons but just can't do it. I guess I'm stuck with my bad girlfriend. :banghead:

I know this subject has been covered ad nauseum, but lets take a different look at it. The Chiefs suck, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The Buckeyes are on a bowl ban, they are way overrated at #12, and watching them on Saturday made me sad. I realized that this team has a long way to go before I consider them good. When do you reach a point where you realize that your time is better off doing something productive? Have you as a fan reached that point? Are you a fan who will never do that? I admit that I will not go out of my way to go to Damon's and pay for lunch so I can watch the Chiefs this year. I remember the days of Trent Green and Priest Holmes, I was actually excited to watch the Chiefs, but I digress. I will keep watching the Buckeyes, but man does it suck to have teams you know aren't going to do anything this year.

Listen, the 3 hours you spend watching 2 hours of commercials and one hour of action, you will never get back, ever. Football is a distraction for me. Sometimes I need a productive diversion, to chill and meditate and relax.

If they fail to entertain, then I go elsewhere with my entertainment dollars. Simple business deal, kind of like when Neil Smith went to the Broncos for more pay and a shot at the Super Bowl. Nothing personal, just business. Kind of like TG spiking that football on us. Nothing personal, just business.

See, I think that's the rub. There are towns like NY and Dallas that scream for a winner and their owners try their darndest. Then, there are towns like KC, Cleveland, Cincy that have such loyal fans, the owners have decided to take their profits and trot out subpar teams. They must sit back at night, read Chiefs Planet's and grin like a cheshire cat.
