On paper, this roster looks pretty good.

Too bad games aren't played on paper.

I think there are a couple of spots that definitely need to be upgraded.

Dorsey, as reliable as he is a a run defender is an absolute liability as a pass rusher.

Same can be said for Tyson Jackson.

I also believe that Kendrick Lewis would be outstanding depth at safety, but could easily be upgraded as a starter.

But I also believe firmly that the major issue on defense lies with Romeo Crennel.

His soft ass bend but don't break philosophy in a league that has adopted rules that already allow passing games to move almost at will is a recipe for total and utter failure.

Every damn time he decides to eschew that soft shit and attack, this defense rises up and dominates.

This team needs an enema at the top, but only needs a good wipe on the field.

I don't believe he's flaming any fire or whatever.

I know he believes firmly in the things he is saying.

there are plenty of spots that would be upgraded with a new coach/defensive scheme

first it would be a whole new d-line rebuild, because Pioli has failed miserably at that for the amount of time and money and players and picks hes invested in it.

we would need more ****ing pass rushers.

you would see the end of guys like Belcher and Javier Arenas.

Eric Berry would probably go back to a real position and not same fake bullshit Romeo makes up to put him in.

I think one of the biggest problems this team has is that we aren't getting the results that we should see from the amount of talent we have. There's no way that the D is playing as best it can. A lot of those guys are phoning it in. The Offense seems to have the same problem early on in games. I think if we draft a truly franchise worthy QB, the want to problem will disappear. I think this entire team has been demoralized by the Cassel experience and the FO's inability to recognize what a failure it has been.

So no, we dont need a rebuild for player personnel, we need a change of outlook that can only be brought on by a new GM, head coach, a full staff of coordinators, position coaches, and assistants. Once we have all of that, then we can go out and draft the God blessed quarterback we need. If we make the right choice, the players we retain will kick it into high gear because they will want to.

I don't think we're garbage or a team of role players.

I do, however, believe that it's entirely possible Dorsey and Jackson are told not to bother with rushing the passer. It's the only rational explanation why they do absolutely nothing in that category. I mean, once in awhile even a blind hog can get to and devour a passer.

Regardless he is shit stirring. Its a roster with a quality QB that competes for the SB. Every roster can use an upgrade until you get the QB. Fact is. We have at least 7 guys that start on a SB winning team and the rest of the starters contribute to winning said bowl. Outside of QB. What franchise QB cant win a SB with this roster? Because a couple of them wont with their current rosters.

I don't see the measure as the winning of a crappy division or a wild card appearance.

I also don't see a good QB appearing magically on our roster next year...

I know the premise of the thread is Pioli being canned, but even if we go 4-12, the chances of that only seem (just guessing) 50/50.

I don't think it's a sure thing at all that change will occur if there's just a bad season record.

It's not a sure thing, just a bunch of guys wishing.

I think we have a San Francisco situation here. You replace Crennel and staff with someone of the caliber of Harbaugh and his staff, this team could win with a few upgrades. You've got to put your players in a position to succeed, and we haven't been doing that. This team is just disorganized, unprepared, and un-physical...

beach tribe 10-05-2012 08:14 PM

I believe we have a TON of talent, and If Crennel would have stuck to being the DC, we had a decent HC, and QB it would be a lot more evident.
Crennel simply cannot do both. We are going to see huge strides by the D the second half of this season though. (not that the HCing will improve at all) Which is not exactly a good thing, because winning games will not benefit this team.
