Long gave up 4 sacks last season in only 745 snaps. He also had more penalties than Albert.

You can't blame that on scheme.

He is not better than Albert. Not by a long shot.

If I am the Rams I go after Jake Long. Sign Long, draft Warmack and give Bradford zero excuses to suck.

BossChief 01-13-2013 04:03 PM

I'd like to see the top 10 offensive tackles in the NFL ranked by one metric.

The total amount of sacks allowed all year divided into the total amount of sacks the opposing defenders had that he faced.

That would give a good metric to gauge how well the player actually performs.

mcaj22 01-13-2013 04:05 PM

so you have a hard on for Jake Long

but Brandon Albert isnt top 5?

then please, name me 5 LTs better

Joe Thomas
Jason Peters

who else. Dont say the idiot from Denver either

The Bad Guy 01-13-2013 04:05 PM

The only thing I'm concerned about Albert with is his back.

Long has plenty of injury problems too.

He is a good, but not great, LT that is at best, a marginal upgrade to Albert, and I think Albert is still growing, while Long is pretty much at his ceiling.

He is great but I do agree that the upgrade isn't worth the money if we use a zone blocking scheme.

The Bad Guy 01-13-2013 04:06 PM

Long is super overhyped. He's a good player, but he's not a top LT.

Yep, I worry slightly more with Albert because it is his back but when it comes to injuries it's a crap shoot and Albert could be fine.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. NO ONE except complete morons and Chiefs homers think this. This statement alone proves that you have no clue.

Michigan homer on the loose

mcaj22 01-13-2013 04:09 PM

there are not 5 LTs I'd take as an upgrade to Albert currently in the NFL.

You are a joke with this Long stuff. Great players don't have a season like he had this year.

Except that you are relying on uninformed people like GoChiefs to decide when a sack is given up by a particular player. that is impossible to determine if you don't know the responsibilities on each and every play. Sounds great in theory, impossible to accurately measure.

One thing I am sure of, though, Long is as overrated at LT as any in the last 20 years.

There's a reason he's going to hit the open market, too.

Damaged goods.

Austin is a big Wolverine, IIRC.

Take of the college glasses there man.
