So to all the people who think Cassel and Smith are the same QB, you guys actually believe Cassel could have led the 2011 49'ers to a muffed punt away from the SB?

LMAO Thats what you are saying.

Fans of this team never learn, apparently.

How can they? It's like a waterboarding version of Groundhog's Day. They've been forced to watch the same scenario play out for 24 years. They don't know any other way to do things.

Alex Smith > Cassel, but who cares?

15 other QBs > Alex Smith.

Yeah he is a top 15 Qb and so is Matt Cassel.

Matt Cassel - 58.9 completion %, 13,495 yards, 82 TD, 57 INT, 24 Fumbles, 80.4 Passer Rating

Alex Smith - 59.3 completion %, 14,280 yards, 81 TD, 63 INT, 36 Fumbles, 79.1 Passer Rating

One would think the more relevant stats would be from the past 2 years as opposed to their entire careers. One QB appears on the way up while the other is clearly down.

I'll use his stats over the last two seasons.

In Alice Smith's last 2 seasons he has thrown for over 300yds once. He has thrown for over 250yds just five times. TERRIBLE. Matt Cassel has done better.

Last season he had a "amazing" 70% completion rate. He only threw the ball over 10yds 43 times compared to MATT ****ING CASSEL'S 96!

ALICE SMITH IS NOTHING!

There are only two statistical categories where Alice is superior to Matt Cassel, wins(product of his team), and INT's(Cassel had one historically bad year).

Trying to tell me Alice is better than Matt b/c he throws less INT's is like telling me I'm better off hiring a pedophile than a child murderer to babysit my kid b/c when I get home my kid won't be dead...**** YOU!

You one way or the other, suffer from short man syndrome or small penis syndrome. You are so consumed with the size of the throw. he doesnt turn the ball over. your weak qbs turned the ball over 29 times. 29!!!!! If you cant equate how not turning the ball over leads to success, then i cant help you. I wouldnt expect a turd with Ricky Stanzi in his signature to fully grasp the positives that alex smith can bring. yay, matt cassell chucks the ball down the field. GREAT. how did that work out for him? Alex Smith gets the ball into his play makers hands. thats why he was second in the league in YARDS PER ATTEMPT........

Smith fumbles more than Cassel does.

He only threw the ball over 10 yards 43 times? Wow. Then I have to ask how many games did he play? I know he got injured and Kapernick took over for the remainder. But yeah, those 300 yard game figures and wins record against good teams is a little scary. I'm still holding out hope that we draft a QB to groom.

Ok, honest question; are you comparing 8 years of stats (Smith) to 4 years of stats (Cassel)?

heathramos 02-28-2013 01:00 PM

Alex Smith is better than Cassel but he did have a great oline and solid running game in SF.

I think the KC will win more games with him next year if they use him right.

He needs a strong running game and play action in order to be effective.

If Reid passes a hundred times a game, he will get killed and will turn the ball over.

As far as the amount of yards he has thrown, they will obviously be low if your offense is based off the run game and you play with a lead. If you are behind all the time, your attempts and yards go up.

Of course that probably means his interception numbers are lower as a result as well.

...and again. Better than Cassel does not equal good.
