Which team has done a better job of filling its holes with quality players while not breaking the bank this offseason?

Any idea what the Chiefs spent this offseason? Gotta be over $40 mil.

You'd be wrong as usual.

Wrong. The mentality is we gave up the #34 pick in the draft for someone who couldn't hold his job, and has had injury issues, including the concussion that benched him last year. One more, and he could be placed on IR. Plus, we have to pay a BACKUP $8.5 million this year.

He was beat out by what might be devleoping into one of the best QBs in the game.

Nobody likes the #34 for pick + another for alex smith. Most here are just so pissed they are ignoring that he's not a bad qb and just want to continue stuffing beach into their twats. Matt Cassel is a bad QB, and we even knew that in 2010.

Alex Smith may or may not be a bad QB but one thing he isn't is a great QB or elite QB. He is just an average QB that has history of injuries that he is subject to being prone to injury. That is what Alex Smith is an average QB that is injury prone.

As far as I can see/tell, only this site has a majority of upset fans.

I get it that people are pissed we got smith but the reality is that there wasn't much to choose from. He will be better than cassel.

Of course he's better than cassel; goddamned butffumble sanchez is better than cassel.

As much as I like what they're doing otherwise, they went out and got a mediocre stopgap QB for a very high pick, immediately signed an underwhelming backup and then declared that Alex Smith was the unquestioned starter, no competition needed.

That sucks. Even more so, when you consider that's exactly what the previous regime did with Casshole.

Personally, it doesn't matter that there wasn't much to choose from. I'd rather have had Jamarcus Russell killing people on the sidelines with errant bullets than waste the 2.2 pick and another conditional pick on a guy whose best attribute is that he doesn't lose you the game, and then declare that there will be no competition for him to start!

Chiefs are gonna be legit next year, the fact that so many of the fans on this board are so miserable is sad.

Seriously, people have such short memories.

It wasn't even two years ago that damn near everyone on this forum was talking about having the best coaching staff in the league.

RAC deserves to keep the job, he's an incredible defensive coach and the team really likes him, they beat Green Bay.

Jim Zorn is a QB guru and can turn anyone into a superstar.

And so on, and so on, and so on.

Fast forward two years, and it's that same coaching staff's fault that this team went 2-14. Couldn't possibly be that the team wasn't as talented as the media or the fanbase thought it was. Amazing the turnaround on this one.

And apparently everyone has forgotten that the media deems us the big "winners of FA" damn near every year, and we've won 29 games in the past 6 years.

We're the greatest dynasty in NFL history at winning the offseason.

Too bad it means jack shit.
