Hell of a quarterback in what amounted to minor league football. Fortunately he stuck around long enough to enjoy a couple of very solid pro seasons there toward the end.

Will we be adding Alex Smith to this list?

Irving Fryar, sort of

Charles White, sort of

(Hmm, in looking at his stats, he had a fantastic rookie year and then ran in mud his whole second year and tailed off his third year before leaving. I just remembered his fantastic rookie year. The Rams wanted to move him to fullback and he instead requested and got a dirt-cheap trade.)

Bettis was battling injuries year 2 and 3 and STL thought he was done.

Some of the plays he was able to make year 1 and 2 in Pitt were just freakish. For a guy his size it didn't seem possible...

you know what, Thomas Jones would be another one of those, as would Garrison Hearst.

CoMoChief 08-19-2013 09:58 PM

LaRon Landry maybe?

Ricky Williams...he wasn't shit until he went to MIA.

Jones was never that impressive. He was fed enough carries to top 1k.

Hearst was pretty good for the Cards it was just their team was so terrible no one noticed...

It's one thing for a guy to have been a role player or not gotten on the field, and then broken out after being given PT on a new team.

There aren't a huge number of straight out busts who go on to be successful with another team, guys who were given all the opportunity and just failed.

You can't call Rich Gannon a bust, for example, he was a fourth round pick and never got on the field with the Vikings (hardly)

WR is just one of those positions where you never know, that is, a guy can have all the talent in the world and not do crap in the NFL. Or, he can be a big time talent and have great success, but he's a head case.

Who was that first round WR taken about 10 years back by Detroit, Mike Williams? He sucked with Detroit and then came back and was ok for a while.

yeah, I was mentioning hearst because he didn't do crap his first two years, then had a 1000 yard season his third year, but really blossomed with SF.

His 90+ yard run to end the game is still one of my favorite NFL moments.

he was okay for a season with the seahawks and then resorted back to sucking.

I guess it is kind of rare.

I guess Cedric Benson would be one.
