Simmer down... |
I would blitz him, but not too much.
You gotta limit the blitzing. I agree with Milkman there. If the Chiefs do blitz him, I'd like to see some well timed blitzes. I'm surprised nobody mentioned "disguising" the blitz. That is one thing the Chiefs should do. If you wanna beat Manning, you not only have to hit him, but try to confuse him as well. You gotta get into his head. |
I wouldn't blitz him very often; especially in 3-wide sets.

tight man coverage. They will try the screen over and over, along with short hit routes like slants and short out iso's. Hit Manning alot. I mean alot. Even if it's borderline late. One offense, slants, Jamal out of the backfield, and lots of straight ahead running.
|
Forget trying make Alex Smith a passing quarterback even if they are dink and dunks. Get Jamaal Charles 20-25 carries and spell him with Kniles Davis with about 5 carries. Playaction pass is something Alex Smith is actually good at so run game and playaction pass can make this offence operate and be effective. Put it in Jamaal Charles hands first and often and then pass to keep donko defense honest.
Keep Peyton on the sidelines and when he is in hit him hard on defense. |
Blitz up the middle. The donks will spend all week game planning for Hali and Houston from the edges. Blitz the middle and ruin Neckbone's day.

I really don't think blitzing is any sort of solution at all. Hali, Houston, Jackson and Poe need to play down and get pressure without any sort of blitz.
Manning gets the ball out too quick and throws too many little screens to blitz constantly. We'll get killed that way. Line up in man and jam the **** out of the WR's at the line and let Poe ****ing eat. Once he starts imposing his will, there's no ****ing way Manning doesn't take a couple of shots from the outside and get rattled. |

I truly don't think you've got a chance at beating him mentally. He's a soft-ass. He hates getting hit or pushed and that is what rattles him. |
keep that giant forehead on the sidelines drinking gatorade. lots of first downs. run the ball a lot. get Gray and Davis involved if need be. score score score. clock is the enemy no doubt.

The forecast for Sunday night in Denver is clear and temps in the mid 20's. That's good for the Chiefs? :hmmm:

If you play man every snap he's going to pick on Sean Smith and destroy him with Demaryius Thomas. You can't do that, either.
Gotta mix it up and disguise coverages. |
