Can someone explain why someone earlier in the thread referred to our back to back homers "rally killers"? I heard a little something on 610 today saying that too, (in a joking manner).

George Brett last season and Denny Matthews this year referred to home runs as rally killers.

Yeah, I knew you were. I heard a little on 610 about it today, and wasn't sure what was going on.

I don't see how they would be rally killers, unless we were down like 5 and someone hit a solo homer or something?

Yeah that's the whole deal. They say that if you're down like 5-1 or something and hit a 2 run home run, then you're still down 5-3. So it doesn't accomplish much (Denny said that).
