Hi everyone. Well, after many tests (MRI, CAT, PET), they haven't found any other cancer in my Dad's body. You have to love doctors; they almost seemed disappointed that there wasn't any.... They said that if the lesions on his brain were secondary, they would be able to treat them with radiation. Since it appears the lesions are the primary, he has to have surgery to go after them.

So, he goes under the knife on Tuesday. If you would, please see a prayer, send good thoughts and so on to my Dad that day.

Thank you all for your empathy. It means a lot to me.

Donger.

Good luck to you and your family. Stay strong for him.

Hope it went well, today. Thoughts are with you.

I know what you are going through. I'm pretty close with my old man. He's 72, and after a routine bypass near Christmas, we nearly lost him to some extremely bizarre events. Before that it was lung cancer that was diagnosed during screens for something else, a number of years before that, prostate cancer.

Things can look pretty bleak, but sometimes it turns out good too. Hopefully you get good news out of all of this too. Thoughts and prayers your way Donger.

Just saw this, Donger.

Prayers and thoughts your and your family's way. I hope the surgery went well today. Don't lose hope - with modern medicine, you should have plenty.

Praying that the surgery went well...

Eleazar 05-14-2014 10:20 AM

Good luck. Had one of my parents go through something similar. I hope that you have a good outcome.

I felt a lot better after talking with the brain surgeon every morning when he did his rounds. He was one of those people that is so expert in his field that you're just in awe of him. He will be in good hands, I bet.

Hi Everyone:

Thanks again for the good wishes and prayers. My Dad survived the surgery and has already been discharged. We are now waiting on the pathology. His surgeon could only get to one of the lesions because he was concerned that if he went after both, my Dad could have bled out. So, he went after the larger one. Oddly, he's not entirely convinced that it is cancer after all. He said it could be an infection or even fungus (yes, I've had some fun with the old man about that possibility...) although that might even be worse than cancer, as I've learned.

Anyway, now we wait again.

Again, my most sincere thanks to all for your empathy.

Donger.

Great to hear the surgery went well and that he's already home. Hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about.
