barf.

The "industry" has already ruined country music twice. Don't let them F with Red dirt.

Have any of you guys heard of "Hick Hop"?

I was asked to do a 12 song Hick Hop album for a prominent library just last week. I'll write all of the music and perform all of the instruments while they'll have a "Beatz" guy provide all of the Hip Hop style drums.

They said it's a huge emerging genre. Any thoughts?

It's mostly pollution.

It does however cross racial/financial boundaries and has been a big hit with the small town trailer park Meth kids for years. It's only the last few years it seems to have caught on with the suburban white kids and even the African American kids. ...which seems strange considering half the original hits had their videos drowning in stars and bars and the occasional not so hidden racial slur.

This is the current "popular" song some of the help is torturing me with.

Interesting. The example I was given had acoustic guitars, mandolins and banjos playing traditional Country with Hip Hop beats underneath.

Something like Big Smo's - Movin' on Up?

I find it an interesting mix of sound every time they play it.

Oh, puhleese.

Nashville isn't concerned with people in Seattle, San Fran, Los Angeles, Portland, etc.

Nashville is SO preprogrammed it's freaking unbelievable. They produce music that sells to their core audience.

End of story.

This is what's wrong with country music.

Big swinging dick Hollywood types like Dane ruin it for the real country boys like me.

Early Eagles albums were definitely a pre-cursor to Modern Country and by the 90's, nearly every major Country artist sounded like either the Eagles or Skynyrd.

I haven't paid attention to country in a long, long time but I prefer "real" country music, not polished, over produced "Country" music.

funny, now that I think about it...my middle daughter kind of looks like Shania Twain.

...gonna go watch her sing to Willie.

There's such a clear delineation between 'pre-Walsh' and 'Walsh' Eagles that they're hardly the same band, IMO.

Though they had taken something of an adult contemporary turn right before Leadon left.

Their first few albums though, yeah - that's pretty much straight up 'modern' country.

Absolutely. That was borne out of Glenn Frey's desire to become a "Rock" band as well as ditching Glyn Johns as their producer.

Hotel California and The Long Run are great albums but Joe Walsh and Tim Schmidt really changed their sound from the early days, which I prefer.

Along with the Flying Burrito Brothers, Rick Nelson and Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles created a genre that has been honed to perfection by Nashville and Tony Brown.

It comes across as sterile and phone to me.

Cody Johnson.... Like his style.
