Something to remember is that even IF that were to happen, there is no guarantee the Chiefs would get him or, for that matter, even have a shot. The Texans get first dibs on released players this year. Its not going to be nearly as easy as last season for the Chiefs to improve by signing released players.

They are not ahead of him
Woods was their best WR last year as a rookie
He will start next to Watkins

You don't just cut 2nd year players if they are quality starters for your team

The most important thing about some of his guaranteed money being void isn't whether Bowe should be cut or not, but now he has financial motivation again to put in some effort. I don't think it's a coincidence that he fell off right after he got paid. Now if the effort isn't there, the Chiefs aren't stuck with as much of his financial burden if they don't want to be.
