I was making the lineup as Ned Yost.

Guys like me, Al, Duncan etc have all talked about the lineup for years...

I just don't understand why you inject yourself in these threads and talk down to the people who have been in every Royals thread talking about the Royals all year long like you know something we don't

I can promise you that I know a lot more about the Royals than even the genious of Hamas Jenkins

You obviously don't, or you wouldn't make posts that are so ill-informed.

You can manage as Yost if you want to, or you can give the team you like the best chance to win with its roster construction.

But hey, by that logic, since you aren't a Cowboys or Broncos fan I guess you shouldn't talk about Tony Romo or Peyton Manning

I didn't mean he wasn't good. I think he is. I guess I never saw him as elite. I see he's high on some of the stat rankings, but he also plays a lot less innings than the other guys on there.

Hootie 10-23-2014 07:51 PM

you're wrong about that lineup

Dyson should not be hitting leadoff, ever. He's the #9 guy. Or #8 in San Fran.

This is the ****ing lineup:

Escobar
Hosmer
Cain
Moose
Perez
Gordon
Infante
Dyson
Pitcher

That is OUR best lineup tomorrow in San Fran with Dyson in the lineup.

Hootie 10-23-2014 07:53 PM

and in all honesty, I'd be willing to bet Ned goes: (if he does indeed go with Dyson)

Escobar
Hosmer
Cain
Gordon
Perez
Moose
Infante
Dyson

Dyson is one of the only guys in your lineup willing to take a pitch. From the #1 spot in the lineup, that's pretty important. He's faster than Escobar and gets on base more often, even if he isn't the same pure hitter. You're better off hitting him there because he can turn a walk into a double better than Escobar, and he's less likely to drive in a run from the 8th spot in the lineup than Escobar, whose isolated power is better.

We're not going to **** with the top of our order right now. It makes no ****ing sense. Typical Cardinals fan syndrome here. You guys remember once upon a time before Matheny when ALL OF YOU hated LaRussa and thought the was the worst manager in baseball?

****ing ridiculous.

That's an awesome counterargument.

"We're not going to put our best hitters in the position to drive in the most runs because it makes no ****ing sense." Then, follow it up with a non-sequitur.

And you wonder why I talk down to you.

by the way, Dyson isn't a free agent until 2018

don't know where anyone saw that he was a FA after this year

He's Arbritration eligible

I did not like the idea of making Escobar the leadoff guy. But to his credit he's done a solid job up there. I don't think it's the long term solution but I definitely wouldn't be screwing with it now, so much so I wonder if Ned's going to bat Dyson 2nd if he does start him tomorrow.

I'm sorry, but that stuff is just a myth. Those guys aren't going to be thinking about where they're hitting in the order when they step in the box

Your order really should be:

1. Dyson
2. Cain
3. Gordon
4. Hosmer

When in KC:

5. Butler
6. Perez
7. Infante
8. Escobar
9. Moustakas

When in SF:

5. Perez
6. Infante
7. Moustakas
8. Escobar

You need to put your best hitters in the spot where they are most likely to produce. Just because you've won several playoff games with this lineup doesn't mean that it's the best lineup for the team.

If Yost put in Collins to face Posey when he had Davis available, he's still likely to have the decision work, but that doesn't make it the right one.

Does Gordon really still deserve to be #3? I know his few hits and driven in some runs, but there have been very few hits. Going back a couple months now.

Hootie 10-23-2014 08:01 PM

there is no freaking way he should hit, arguably, our best power hitter who has suddenly developed a patient eye 8th in an NL park

he has to hit Dyson 8th

Probably Infante #2 and Dyson #8

there is no reason to hit Escobar / Infante ... Ever.

If Ned really wants to be more like Hootie 2.0, and he's done a great impression with the way he's handled his bullpen this postseason, here is his lineup:

(For the 5th time)

ESCOBAR
HOSMER
CAIN
MOOSE
PEREZ
GORDON
INFANTE
DYSON

With swapping Gordon/Moose being acceptable as well.

He's been the best hitter on the team for five years, and he was far and away your best hitter this year. He's the only guy you have who can hit for power, average, and who has a good batting eye.
