To be clear, our one big area of disagreement....
I believe this supporting cast, when Sutton isn't shitting the bed, was more than good enough to support a QB worth a damn. You think the issue is at ol and that the ol has ruined Alex Smith. I believe that Alex Smith was damaged goods to begin with and that ol improvements aren't and weren't going to fix him.

Just so we're clear. Because we don't disagree on much besides that.

There is very few people in the NFL that can hide Smith's faults Reid is and never will be one of em Harbaugh deserves a medal for almost getting Alex to the superbowl if not for Kyle Williams.

Harbaugh definitely knew the deal... lean heavily on the running game and use lots of play action, its the only way to consistently open up the deeper parts of the field for Smiff to noodle one in there.

But not Big Andy, HELL NO... he's gonna do what his peers are doing with superior QB's and put Smiff in the shotgun using spread concepts and have him just dice suckers up with his superior schemes and playcalling.

Who needs a running game when you have one of the NFL's premier play designers and a laser accurate, whip smart field general distributor?

Yup. I don't have as much an issue with what Dorsey did. And that includes devaluing the Oline. He said with Alex Smith as QB, we're going to load up on defense, running game, and tight end. After you do those things, how much money is left for Olinemen?

It's on Sutton for not making good players work on D. It's on Reid to use the running game better. But let's not hide from the fact that these things were done to hide Alex smith.

Which begs the question why in the hell did they resign smith for that much money ???

Its almost like Reid and Dorsey aren't on the same page as they let on, Dorsey talks one game... Reid plays another.

It REALLY does call into question Reids status as a "QB whisperer", he really thought Alex Smiff was some kind Peyton Manning light that could toss it 35-40 times game?

Reid did a good job with Garcia Mcnabb Drafted foles and even made Vick look decent I cant and never will understand what the hell he saw in Smith that he tried trading for him for so many years.

That's all truth, its why I'm not directly calling for his firing yet.

But he needs a fundamental shift in how he handles the team, and there isn't much (read:NO) proof that he's willing or able to do that.

Andy Reid genuinely believes in everything Andy Reid, torpedoes be damned.

This is one of the reasons I loathe having Alex Smith on my team. Alex is simply not good enough to help his team win when others make mistakes.

While the 49ers are not my team, I feel for the 49er fans (not the ones on this site), that had to watch an incredible team attempt to make a Superbowl run in spite of their QB. It is very easy to say Kyle Williams lost that game for them because of the turnovers. Its the same thing here. People say we lost a game earlier because of 2 JC fumbles. The common denominator is having a QB that is not good enough to make up for deficiencies of and mistakes made by the rest of the team.

The 49ers COULD have won the NFCCG in spite of the 2 fumbles with better quarterback play. We could have beaten the Broncos in spite of the 2 fumbles with better quarterback play.

1. The Broncos are still undefeated despite playing better quarterbacks. IIRC, we are the only team to hold a 4Q lead against them.
2. The 49ers had more QB production against the Giants, as paltry as it was, than anyone they faced in the SB run.
