If it's at night, that can be a bit unnerving. The local radio is very good at reporting. Our county has a bunch of storm trackers. They give classes 2x a year for normal folks as well.

I will take a tornado over a hurricane. There are pro's and con's to both. Hurricanes don't surprise you. They are huge. I guess the only hope is that they lose power or that the brunt is a few miles away? Tornados can hop and skip. The chance of getting whacked is similar as to shark bites in the sea. Or as the Artillery Man would say "big sky, little bullet".

The biggest scare would be an F-5 tornado bearing down on your town at night.

the BC could benefit from a tornado cleaning it up.

With that said, Stay safe Florida.

I disagree. You never know where a tornado is. Coming down wherever and turning who knows which way. You could be asleep and it's too late to get out.

It's been 4000+ days since a hurricane has hit land in the USA. You get days of warning and they can predict pretty accurately where it's going ashore and clear out.

If I had to choose for a tornado or hurricane I'd pick a tornado too. Much higher chance I am personally unaffected by one than a hurricane which would touch everything in town.

It's been windy with cloud cover here all day. Nice change from the blistering heat we've had all summer

They are saying the storm surge is going to be between 6-10 feet (not counting the wave action) in Daytona Beach. I hope you are on some very high ground, good luck.

Disney World is closed and evacuating the resorts. Only been done 3 times before since it was built.

That's in the middle of the state.

You might get to experience a tornado today depending on your location

How far are you from Melbourne? The mayor just announced that he thinks Melbourne will be uninhabitable for weeks.

But, those guys on the other side of the state with 140+mph winds? Thats some serious wrath of nature. Going to be some serious projectiles flying around.
