Not true. He owned an arena team, was chairman of the AFL's executive committee, and was executive vice president of football operations for the Broncos before he became GM. John Lynch has done none of those things.

Try again.

Arena League owner?

That's like being a sponsor for Youth Football.

He ran an organization. What organization has John Lynch run? I notice you ignored that he was executive vice president of football operations before he was GM.

For exactly one year in which he was the de facto GM.

Again, football isn't rocket science.

It's ****ing football.

If Dorsey leaves you would be ok with John Lynch running the Chiefs?

John Lynch has zero affiliation with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs haven't been a laughing stock for the past two seasons.

The Chiefs ownership is in far better standing than the 49ers.

Your analogy isn't sound.

So you think a guy you wouldn't hire for the Chiefs is the one to turn around a crappy team? This makes no sense at all.

Elway had a football coach for a dad. He went to Stanford, majored in Economics. You're all familiar with his NFL career. He had his name on some car dealerships as a player but I don't think he had much of anything to do with actually running them at that point. He did terminate that contract eventually in order to open dealerships in is own name later that he would, presumably, have more to do with. He was fairly active in the Arena Football League as a co-owner and an executive for the life of the league. When he came back to the Broncos it was as VP of football operations, at the request of the owner after Josh McDouche destroyed the franchise. Over time he got rid of the previous GM and absorbed his job. He has continued to tinker with the organizational structure of the franchise. He attempts to surround himself with people who cover his weaknesses and get rid of people who don't perform. He was nowhere near as raw as Lynch is now and he still has had to learn as he goes. So...yeah. I don't think Lynch compares very well to Elway. We'll see what happens.

It's also worth mentioning that Elway wasn't just running the Colorado Crush. Pat Bowlen was mentoring him for 8 years or so. Undoubtedly teaching him the Broncos Way.

I hate the Broncos. But you could do worse than learn from Pat Bowlen for 8 years

LMAO

John Elway IS the "Broncos Way".

Good grief.

You're claiming he had no experience and that the AFL job meant nothing. I would say learning how to run an AFL team under mentorship from the Broncos owner for 8 years really important experience. And running a business operation, whether it's the NFL or the AFL, is not easy work. I am sure Elway learned a ton about how Bowlen conducts business during those 8 years.
