Figured that had to be the case.

Probably still need to pump the brakes before going too far off the rails. It's not unreasonable to think that a deal that's 5 years long could have a salary approaching $15 million at the end (inflation's a bitch). So if this thing is actually a 4 year, $26 million extension with $10 million in bonus and years 1 and 2 guaranteed with year 3 partially guaranteed to reach $20 million in guaranteed 'new' money, then you end up with an ascending guard at slightly below market for good interior lineman.

On a bright note, the 2018 FA list for the Chiefs seems very bare in terms of big time talent.

The only major names on it are Dee Ford (who won't be when his 5th-year option is picked up), Jamaal Charles (may not even be there in '17), and Jaye Howard. The rest are JAGs, unless someone steps up big time.

Yeah, if LDT continues his upward trend its entirely possible that he winds up as a Pro Bowl guard who is making the same % of the cap as each year progresses.

They clearly view LDT as their TJ Lang. Both elite in pass pro, average in run blocking

We aren't paying him like a decent guard. We are playing like a top-3 guard in the NFL. Yes, contracts go up but not that much.
