Derwin James out would be pretty big. He’s one of the few defensive backs that matches up well with Kelce.

He was limited in practice. He'll probably play but like Ekeler, he isn't 100% and he'll likely have a limited workload as a result.

This is PFF, so take it with a grain of salt.

Andrew Wylie grade: 58.4 (seems about what you would expect)
Storm Norton grade: 57.2 (big ****ing oof)

Norton is probably better than Pipkins too

****ing ouch. With Jones, KC D dominates. Without, who knows? Ingram + Clark have been monsters off the edge but that is in very large part to CJ's collapsing the middle of the OL. He has been making OG/Cs his bitch the past six games.

The last time we played….
Reed wasn’t playing as well as he has been.
Clark wasn’t Clark.
We didn’t have Ingram on this team.
Thornhill wasn’t really playing.
Fenton wasn’t playing that much.
We had 4 turnovers.
They still barely won.

Can they beat us? Sure…it’s possible. But this isn’t the same ****ing team from early in the season.

The 4 turnovers is the big one. That's not going to happen again.

Second game this season I will miss live due to work. Hopfully I wake up with a smile on my face checking the score!

Had the Chargers played poorly, we played well, and we lost, I’d be nervous.

The Chargers actually played really well in the first matchup. Herbert was great. Their receivers caught ****ing everything. Ekeler had a good Ekeler game. They took advantage of every dropped pass from our receivers. They converted a 4th and 9 late (on a DPI).

We moved the ball well on their defense, but that’s just what their defense is. They are ****ing terrible against the run. Our OL and RBs are healthy, so we’ll have success on the ground.

Our success from last game is VERY repeatable. Our failures from last game are VERY correctable:

-limit turnovers
-get pressure on Herbert (very likely with Ingram and Clark against their OTs)
-contain Ekeler (he’s gimpy and their OL has issues)

BleedingRed 12-16-2021 10:21 AM

I'm predicting we hold them to under 17 points

IMHO, if both the Chargers starting tackles are out, we won't need to blitz much. A four-man rush will pressure all night. The occasional blitz would be deadly effective in critical 3rd & long situations. Let's see how that plays out, BR. I'll be interested to see. Want a friendly bet of....nothing? :)

smithandrew051 12-16-2021 10:23 AM

If the idea of trotting Mike Remmers and Andrew Wylie out there as starting OTs terrifies you, then keep in mind that the duo the Chargers will start tonight is worse.

Yeah what I meant by Stupid was more stunts and confusing looks. Because calling their protections will be a issue. Hopefully we can confuse them and get some free rushes.
