I work there, live in Nebraska.
Lots of windmills on the way to Des Moines from Omaha. It looks like war of the worlds. But, Iowa is the Midwest. Relatively conservative, though it feels almost purple. Good people, good economy. Housing shouldn't kill you. I don't know about taxes. Their gas used to be cheaper than Nebraska by a dime, but now it's the opposite, so I don't know what happened there. For 35%...make the move. It's not like it's some terrible place to live. If you have relatives close by, IMO that's a bonus. Good luck. |
Oh, and their football team is way better than the Huskers...but that ain't sayin much these days...

Fongs is good. Leaning Tower of Pizza used to be good, haven't had it forever so I can't vouch for it now. Wig and Pen is pretty good too. |
