It's not training camp but WTF is the first preseason game at noon? That's just bullshit. The NFL gets just more stupid every year.

Kansas City Chiefs aren't done adding weapons to their offense. On Saturday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport announced that the team is signing wide receiver Devin Gray.

Gray signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted rookie in 2018. His status on the team changed several times over a three-year stretch.

Gray then spent time with the TSL Generals before signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021.

The past few years have been tough for Gray, but he was fortunate enough to join the USFL and showcase his skills for professional teams around the world.

In eight games with the Philadelphia Stars, Gray had 25 catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

Clearly, the Chiefs saw enough potential in Gray to sign him to a one-year contract.

The Chiefs' wide receiver room currently features JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore and Josh Gordon.

It'll be tough for Gray to crack the rotation, but at least he has the opportunity to make an NFL roster.

That's crazy. I wonder why they did that. Because Fountain was injured maybe? We have more WRs than we know what to do with

Hardman started playing much better toward the end of last season and not just in a gadget role. I'm as honest as they come about his shortcomings and his consistently playing the game like a dummy, but he absolutely was showing more late in the season.

He had better performances latter half of last year, but yes, I feel he gets more opportunity than his play warrants. Not just as a receiver. He's bad at running sweep plays, but he gets put in to run them, and this feels forced.

Sounds like a camp body. Maybe it has something to do with Fountain's injury to his finger/hand. I thought I heard Andy said he was going in for a MRI.

He's replacing Cortez Broughton on the 90 man roster. Probably someone for Buechele and Crum to throw to while we decide which one of them is QB3.

Maybe Veach isn't all that impressed with what he's seeing from the guys on the back end of the depth chart? It's definately been a quiet camp for guys like Fountain, Watson, and Powell. Outside of the chore four (MVS, Skyy, Juju, and Mecole), it's clearly anybody's job.

It's always good to churn the bottom of the roster. You might find that one guy that can make a difference.

I am horny for KC Chiefs football to start!

Again, this is just flat out wrong.

You want to know what a "miss" is? Go look at Parris Campbell and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, both of whom were 2nd round WRs that year.

Hardman was not a "miss" by any means.

I remember wanting the Chiefs to draft Paris Campbell. Look how he turned out.

So Hardmen isn’t a bad pick in hindsight

Agreed, I think its just a camp body.

DeAndre Baker cut today. I'd hoped he would come around and be a contributor, but the only highlight he had here was his leg exploding.

Kiimo 08-07-2022 10:51 AM

Baker getting cut just means to me that Joshua Williams and Jaylen Watson look really good to the coaches. We have four new DBs and they are all showing out.

I think Bryan Cook needs to be hitting people live before we see how good that pick is.

I won't be able to watch it but I enjoy watching the preseason games. It's a good chance to familiarize oneself with new players which we have several of this year.
