Rams ate money to move him. |
Well that was exactly what I said the Rams would have to do to move him; eat all but $5 million of it.
That said - we got Richie James for $1.7 million and he's simply a better football player than Allen Robinson. This is the steelers setting cap space on fire, IMO. |

Wonder what players are thinking when they find out they were essentially traded for a sack of dicks

Weird. Feels like the Stealers draft WRs, definitely don't trade for guys at the end of their careers.

I thought that it was a good trade for the Steelers. From what I understand, the $5M isn't guaranteed. So, bring him into camp and give him a shot. If he bounces back, then he's worth the $5M. If he doesn't show up in camp, cut him and all you're out is 17 spots in the 7th round. I would have been fine with the Chiefs making this move. Robinson is only 29, and when healthy, has been pretty good

Chiefs trade away high profile diva WR for but load of picks go on to win Super Bowl
Why the **** give up multiple picks for an aging high profile WR? stupid |

It's not the pick cost - it's that we'd be torching (maybe) half our remaining cap space.
We bumped $10 million in PM's salary down the road, $10 million we'll have to come up with in future years now, so we could set half of it on fire? Robinson has been flat out BAD for 2 seasons now. Set aside the injuries if you'd like - he simply hasn't been worth a damn when he's been on the field. And 'only' 29 doesn't exist for WRs. Better players than Robinson have fallen harder in their late 20s. He's shown nothing to suggest he's worth that cap money or at the very least that the cap money couldn't be put to substantially better use. |
Considering what the Rams paid for Robinson and what they're getting in return for trading him literally a calendar year later (not to mention eating so much of his salary this season), then yeah, I'm glad we came nowhere near this guy.
Have fun, Stealers. |
