At least 2 dead and nearly 60 others hospitalized after Florida music festival
Oh those crazy white kids and their drugs! ROFL http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/06/01...-festival.html At least two people died and 57 more were hospitalized after attending a music festival in Florida over the weekend, authorities said Tuesday. Tampa police said in a news release that a 22-year-old Melbourne man and a 21-year-old Kissimmee woman were hospitalized Saturday after attending the Sunset Music Festival at Raymond James Stadium. The man died Sunday and the woman died Monday. According to Fox 13 News, an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the deaths and the reasons why nearly 60 other concertgoers were hospitalized. The mother of the woman who died after the festival told Fox 13 News Tuesday that she didn’t think her daughter was a heavy drug user, though hospital staff said the deaths could have been caused by a drug overdose. "We don't know (what happened). They have an autopsy going on," the woman’s mother said. "The hospital didn't know, they were bewildered with how to treat this." Florida Poison Control said officials are trying to match the symptoms of those who were hospitalized with possible drug sources, according to Fox 13 News. Police also reported 25 felony arrests, eight misdemeanor arrests and 16 marijuana civil citations at the festival. Tampa police said drug-sniffing dogs were hired by the organizers of the music festival to screen people at the door. "This year, they did more than they did the previous year," Officer Steve Hegarty said. "I don't know what plans they have for next year, but they are going to be well aware of the numbers we had this year." |
Bar Brawl Erupts at Florida Sloppy Joe’s over Fart Police Say
http://www.breitbart.com/big-governm...rt-police-say/
One of the most popular bars in Key West, Florida, erupted in a brawl, police say, because one couple took offense over another patron’s farting. According to the Miami Herald, Florida police reveal the fight took place last Friday “due to someone farting” at a Sloppy Joe’s restaurant and bar. The report stated that Naples, Florida, residents Richard McBride, 53, and girlfriend Sandra Stoner, 55, joined in an argument with an unidentified couple “over a fart.” The Naples couple said that they took offense and began a war of words with the other couple with Stoner confronting them in “an aggressive manner.” Key West Officer Igor Kasyanenko confirms that surveillance video shows Stoner getting out of her seat to confront the unknown woman by “getting in her face in what appeared to me as an aggressive manner.” Apparently the unidentified woman began to tussle with Stoner, causing McBride to enter the fight to shove the woman away. After he pushed the woman, the man punched McBride in the face, the report says. McBride admits he then tackled the man, sending both of them tumbling to the ground. Bar security then broke up the fight. The other couple left the establishment before police arrived. Ultimately, McBride, who police say smelled of alcohol, received hospital treatment and no charges were filed. The fight is now gone with the wind. |

St. Petersburg police are searching for a woman who poured a pot of boiling hot soup over her boyfriend’s head, leaving him in critical condition. Misty Childs, 41, is wanted on a charge of attempted first-degree murder, according to St. Petersburg Police Department. The incident occurred just after midnight Sunday at 1123 13th Ave. S., police said, while Childs argued with her boyfriend, Lavont Moss, 45. Moss went to bed after the argument, police said. That’s when Childs poured the hot soup on his face and upper torso and left the area. Ashleigh Ferris and Wesley Clark said Moss, their roommate, is fighting for his life. They had stepped outside for a smoke when they heard blood curdling screams from inside the halfway house. "I ran inside and he said, 'She burned me! She burned me!" Clark said. "And he ripped his tank top off. It was stuck to his back. Then he just fell over on the couch flat." "He was barely able to breathe because of the pain. He was moaning," Ferris said. Clark, who trained as a paramedic, said the injuries were some of the worst he has seen. "His skin, it just looked like someone took his shoulder blades and grabbed the skin and pulled it off," Clark said. The boiling soup could have severe, even fatal, complications for Moss. "The doctors informed us that the scalding water went into his nose, his mouth and all the way down his throat," said Rick Shaw, St. Petersburg police spokesman. "So the issue here is not just the burning of the skin but the possibility of infection and that could cause death." If you have information on Childs' location, contact police at 727-893-7780. |
It's only August, but Regina Powell, a 22-year-old woman from Florida, may have already locked down the title for Most Embarrassing Injury of the Year. Powell ended up in the hospital Sunday night after she shot herself in the hand while taking Snapchat video of herself posing with a 40-caliber pistol, the Palm Beach Post reports.
Police say Powell told them that she pulled the trigger while "foolishly playing" with her uncle's gun, shattering her phone and injuring the hand that was holding it. She was treated for minor injuries, and police determined that the shooting was accidental. Police say Powell's aunt threw the gun out of the car window while driving her niece to the hospital and it has not been recovered,WKMG reports. |

Sheriff: 6-year-old beat infant sister to death
By: FOX 13 News staff POSTED:AUG 11 2016 03:22PM EDT UPDATED:AUG 11 2016 05:47PM EDT 10 ReactionsDislike6Love It2 ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - The Pinellas County sheriff says a 6-year-old boy beat his baby sister to death while they, along with another sibling, were left alone in a locked van outside a cell phone store while their mother went inside. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said the mother, Kathleen Steele, 62, had gone inside the cell phone store on Aug. 8 to have her broken phone repaired and left the three children in the van with the windows rolled up and the van turned off. The sheriff said the 13-day-old-baby was crying in the van and 6-year-old Frankie slammed the baby on the ground and flipped her around. The baby, also named Kathleen, suffered severe injuries including a fractured skull, cuts, and bruising. "The best way I can describe it is, he pummeled her," said Sheriff Gualtieri, who also said there was blood on the ceiling of the van. The boy will not be charged, though the sheriff said the boy admitted to deputies that he caused the injuries and showed deputies how he did it. "We decided not to charge him. But nonetheless, we have a 6-year-old who killed a 13-day-old," the sheriff said. Steele did not immediately seek medical attention after the baby was injured, the sheriff said, and instead took the children to another store. A neighbor later called paramedics to Steele's home, where they performed CPR on the baby and transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Sheriff Gualtieri said Steele's husband had died several years ago of cancer, but she had his sperm frozen and was artificially inseminated with her husband's sperm by a doctor in New York. Steele, who was pregnant with her 6-year-old son at the age of 55, was also on the reality show "Pregnant and...", Gualtieri said. Three days after she gave birth to baby Kathleen, Gualtieri said there was an incident at a hotel where the baby fell out of a car carrier and was taken to the hospital with a brain bleed. Child Protective Services responded and determined later there was no evidence of abuse and that the incident at the hotel was accidental. |

TEQUESTA, Fla. – Police found a suspect biting off part of a victim’s face after a gruesome double homicide in Florida Monday night. The Martin County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office responded to the home at 19000 SE Kokomo Lane around 9:20 p.m. after receiving a call from a neighbor who said he’d been stabbed while trying to break up a fight, reports WPTV. The first deputy to arrive at the scene saw the suspect on top of the male victim in the driveway. The suspect was biting off parts of the man’s face, police said. The deputy used a stun gun on the suspect, but it had no effect. A K-9 officer also bit him, but that didn’t stop him. Deputies eventually pried him off the man’s body. Investigators found the victim’s wife dead in the garage. Deputies said the suspect and victims knew one another but were still trying to determine their relationship. The neighbor who called 911 was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover, police said. Link: http://fox59.com/2016/08/16/police-s...de-in-florida/ |

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. —A woman says her husband's ashes were responsible for the evacuation of a Florida post office Monday morning. The woman, who spoke to WPBF's Sanika Dange, did not want to reveal her name. Monday marked one year since her husband's death, so she took some of his ashes to a Mass being held in his honor. After Mass was over, she headed to the post office to run some errands and accidentally left the ashes behind. She didn't notice that the ashes were missing until after she went to breakfast and returned home. Meanwhile, officials had already begun responding to reports of a suspicious powdery substance at the post office. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived just before 11:30 a.m. and created a perimeter. The post office post office was evacuated as hazmat teams went in to test the substance. When the woman returned to collect the ashes, she saw the heavy police presence in the area, and she said she realized what had happened. She spoke to deputies and regained custody of the ashes. The scene was also cleared by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. As she walked out of the Royal Palm Beach Post Office, the woman told Dange that she was anxious to get home and relax after such an eventful day. "I think it was a sign. It's him telling me that he's still around and he's still kicking somewhere and he just wanted me to know about it," the woman said. She also extended an apology to all the first responders. |
Man Jailed For Oral Activity On Boardwalk
Police: Floridian, 50, serviced woman in public AUGUST 25--A man spotted yesterday afternoon performing oral sex on a woman lying down on a Florida beach boardwalk told cops that he was an “emergency responder and had to assist the female as it was his duty,” according to a criminal complaint. A Treasure Island Police Department officer found Tracy Briley, 50, with his shorts at his ankles and “penis out in plain view” around 1 PM Wednesday. Briley, the cop noted, “was performing cunnilingus on a female subject laying on the beach boardwalk.” Briley, seen at right, told the officer that he was homeless and “had nowhere else to have sex except in public.” A witness told police that he (and his three-year-old grandson) “observed the act of cunnilingus.” When Officer Zakariah Dorman arrived on the boardwalk, Briley’s companion--who is not identified in the complaint--was clothed. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital “reference to a medical issue.” Briley was transported to the county jail, where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 on a felony lewd and lascivious exhibition charge. He was also hit with a misdemeanor trespassing count. Briley’s rap sheet includes prior busts for battery; possession of drug paraphernalia; evidence tampering; robbery; disorderly conduct; littering; and possession of an open container. http://thesmokinggun.com/sites/defau...cybriley16.jpg |

Kid in Florida Daycare comes home covered in bites...from another kid in daycare!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/toddler-m...220343577.html Amanda Beebe rushed to the day care center where she left her 18-month-old and became hysterical. Her boy's body was covered with more than a dozen bite marks. His face, limbs and back were swollen and raw. Who bit her boy? Where were the adults? How could this happen at a day care? "It looked like he'd been mauled by an animal," Beebe told The Associated Press on Wednesday. But the doctor at the hospital told Beebe that by the look of the marks, her son had been bitten by another child. Now, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and child welfare authorities are investigating the J's Bright Learners center in Bradenton, and an employee there could face charges of child neglect. A woman who answered the phone at the day care Wednesday said no one there could comment. Beebe said she had recently put her two children, the 18-month-old and his 4-year-old brother, into the day care so she could continue her education in alternative medicine. She was paying $40 a week — all she could afford — with a government voucher covering the rest. On Aug. 26, a day care worker notified Beebe and her husband that their younger boy had been bitten once. "We weren't upset — that happens with children," said Beebe, who assumed workers would keep a watchful eye on the child with the biting issues. Three days later, she got another call. This time, the employee said "it's bad, it's really bad," she recalled. She hung up and rushed to the center, where her boy was covered with bites and inconsolable. "As a mom, you don't ever know what you're going to do in a situation. The anger didn't set in until later," she said. "This is my son; he's been hurt. As a mom you feel like this was your fault." She rushed him to a hospital, where doctors called authorities. A week later, Beebe is shocked that no one's been arrested. According to the Bradenton Herald, Florida's Department of Children and Families has issued violations to J's Bright Learners six times after its last 12 inspections, for leaving children unsupervised or failing to have enough staff to care for the number of children. "I just want everyone to know this is not OK. I want justice," said Beebe, who published pictures of her boy's injuries on Facebook in a post that generated some 47,000 comments in a week. She doesn't blame the other child — she blames the adults. She chose this day care because it was one of the few she could afford, and it had cameras. They allowed her to watch a recording, but because of the angle, she couldn't see her son being bitten, only that there appeared to be no adult in the room for about 20 minutes as her son came into view, crying. Her son received antibiotics and he's on the mend, she said. "I'm just grateful it's not worse," she said." I'm trying to look at the bright side." |

Tampa man testing bulletproof vest dies after cousin shoots him By WFLA Web Staff Published: September 11, 2016, 2:29 pm Updated: September 12, 2016, 11:48 am TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A man wanted to see if a bulletproof vest that he had actually worked, so his cousin shot him in the chest, and wound up killing him, according to Tampa police. It happened at a home located on Gordon Street in Tampa Saturday evening. Shortly after 10 p.m. TPD officers responded to the home after a report of a shooting. When they arrived they located the victim outside of the house with a gunshot wound to the chest. In the house, the officers found blood and a bulletproof vest. Alexandro Garibaldi, 24, told them that he heard a gunshot and found the victim outside. But a witness at the scene told another story. The witness said that the victim Joaquin Mendez, 23, sat in a chair and put on a bulletproof vest. He wondered out loud whether it still worked. Garibaldi took out a handgun, stated “Let’s see,” and shot at the vest. The vest was found in the house with a projectile entrance hole, according to TPD. Mendez was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. Garibaldi was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. |
Well, I'd take the vest back for a refund, that's for sure...

Soon, Floridians will glow in the dark!
MULBERRY, FL (KTRK) -- Officials say a massive sinkhole in Florida has allowed millions of gallons of radioactive water to pour into one of the world's most productive aquifers. The sinkhole was found by crews in a containment pond at the New Wales Mosaic plant in Mulberry on August 27th. A field technician found the water level had dropped at one of the ponds, and upon investigation, found a 45-foot hole with seemingly no bottom, WFTS-TV reports. Since then, about 215 million gallons of contaminated water used to process fertilizer has drained into the hole. A recovery well was built to pull the contaminated water out of the aquifer. So far, tests have not detected contaminants in the groundwater, meaning the pumps are working, officials say. http://abc13.com/news/sinkhole-sends...uifer/1513906/ |

Just three months into their marriage, a Florida couple got the surprise of their lives after discovering that the bride was the groom’s biological granddaughter. According to the Florida Sun Post, the couple - who have requested to remain anonymous - came to the startling discovery while looking through the 68-year-old’s photo albums, which included pictures of his first wife and their children. His 24-year-old wife instantly recognized one of the children as her estranged father, who she says kicked her out of the house when she was a teenager after she’d accidentally gotten pregnant. As the husband explained to the Florida Sun Post, he and his first wife had gone through a terrible split, and when she left him, she took their kids with her and moved to an undisclosed location. Despite his many efforts to find them, he was never able to, and eventually, he got remarried and started a new family with his second wife. However, that marriage also ended messily - but in a stroke of luck two years later, the 68-year-old ended up winning “several million dollars” in the lottery. He soon decided he was ready for love again, and after signing up for a dating website, he came across his future wife’s profile. “I just felt strange when I saw her photos,” the man said. “It was like a sense of déjà vu, but at the time I couldn’t figure out why she seemed so familiar.“ Despite finally figuring it out, however, the couple have decided to stay together, and have no plans of getting divorced. “If we’d never found out, we would’ve lived out lives happily together, and us being related shouldn’t change that,” the 68-year-old said. "Every couple is different and special in their own ways,” his wife added. |

A Miami woman was arrested over the weekend in Hollywood after she was riding in a vehicle that was pulled over in connection with a hit-and-run. According to an arrest report, police discovered that a passenger in the driver's vehicle, Taccara Nauden, 28, had an active warrant out from the Broward County Sheriff's Office for operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. Nauden was arrested Saturday and taken to the Brevard County Main Jail for processing. Police said Nauden told medical staff at the jail that she had shoved her Nebraska ID card into her vagina during the traffic stop. An X-ray confirmed that Nauden had a foreign object there. She was taken to a hospital for medical clearance. Police said Nauden pulled down her pants while she was leaving the jail, squatted and urinated in public. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital and then taken back to the jail. Nauden faces charges from the warrant, as well as an additional charge of indecent exposure in public. |

The adults were most definitely not acting like grown-ups.
A blazing brawl erupted at a south Florida Chuck E. Cheese's over the weekend, with adults throwing punches, kicks and pulling hair while their children ran screaming for safety. A 16-year-old girl shot video of the melee with her cell phone and posted it on Twitter, where it naturally went viral with thousands of shares. Miami high school student Krystel Jimenez told InsideEdition.com Tuesday night that she was at the pizza parlor with a friend when “two people got into a fight and then their families got involved.” While she was filming, Jimenez said she felt frightened by all the punching and yelling. “It was worse because no one could stop it,” she said. “I felt scared and I didn’t know when it was going to end." The cops arrived, but no one was arrested, she said. The Miami-Dade Police Department has issued no information about the incident. A request from Inside Edition for details of the officers' response has not been answered. In the video, some parents can be seen running to find their children while others keep fighting. More people are seen jumping in as fists fly and women yank each other’s hair. A few brave souls tried to pull apart the brawlers, but to no avail. “Some of the children were crying, yelling and running away,” Jimenez said. “In the video, you can see the parents trying to find their kids to get them out as soon as possible.” No one appeared to be seriously hurt, she said. As for the behavior of the adults, Jimenez said she was thoroughly disappointed. "I think they were the ones acting like kids. They were setting a horrible example for the children and probably traumatized them," she said. https://www.yahoo.com/news/adults-ch...012100906.html |

miaminewtimes.com/news/half-headed-man-arrested-again-for-attempted-murder-arson-8858814
On Monday, Half Head was arrested for two felony counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson, according to the Miami-Dade Department of Corrections. Half Head first came to New Times' attention in November 2010, when we published his mug shot after he'd been arrested for soliciting a prostitute. In a Miami Police arrest report, his distinguishing characteristics included having "half a head." This then catapulted Half Head to a brief period of worldwide infamy, and people flooded New Times' inboxes with angry letters claiming we had faked the mug shot. But, as it turns out, Rodriguez maintained a small channel on YouTube, where he explains what happened to him. "I was barred-out on drugs," he says in one clip. "And I was driving. And I hit a pole, flew out the front window, and landed on my head." Since then, it appears Half Head hasn't been able to stop himself from breaking the law. In 2010, we wrote that he'd been arrested "quite a lot" for a bevy of alleged crimes, including disorderly intoxication, soliciting a prostitute, possession of weed, and burglary. He seems to have a propensity for violence: In 2014, he was arrested on battery charges. But still, given his physical situation, it's pretty tough to feel anything but bad for the guy. He's apparently still really into weed. Here he is smoking a blunt alongside a river and declaring himself a "burnout." This week, Rodriguez was arrested again on felony charges. It's not clear exactly what happened, because police didn't immediately respond to requests for an incident report. He's being held on $30,000 bond, but, thankfully, he's already been transferred from jail to Mercy Hospital. Update: According to an arrest report, Half Head was found attempting to light his mattress on fire around 2:30 yesterday. He lived in a duplex. "I wanted to burn down my house so I could build a new, two-story house, and I don't care if there was people in the other side of the house because it wasn't going to reach them," he allegedly told police. But two people were living in the other apartment at the time, which means Half Head has been charged with attempted murder. Police say they arrived to find a burn on the right side of the mattress, and said that no other sources of heat could have accidentally started the blaze. "The fire was set within an occupied dwelling, posing an immediate threat to the lives and safety of the occupants," police wrote. miaminewtimes.com/news/half-headed-man-arrested-again-for-attempted-murder-arson-8858814 |
