I was agreeing with you. I was saying RGIII, as well as a few others, were being bounched around the #2 spot.

the Talking Can 01-26-2013 04:36 PM

smith should be the #1 pick just for being smart enough to stay away from this shit show at the senior bowl....that kind of suck is contagious

Geno is about to be the consensus #1 QB just for not playing today.

Geno Smith too much of a pussy to play in the Senior Bowl

Geno's scurred

Enough trollery.

We need Geno Smith. We need Geno Smith NOW.

This forum might not last until then.

B14ckmon 01-26-2013 06:10 PM

Gotta draft Geno now. Pray he works out.

Messier 01-26-2013 06:15 PM

I don't think a rookie is starting game one for the Chiefs this year. Even Smith, I think needs some time to take over. Reid and Dorsey said the QB of the future might not be here this year, and I believe them.

Douche. We didn't bench Cassel and fire Pioli so we could trade for Matt Flynn.

We're drafting a QB. If it doesn't work out, we're drafting another.

There is NO shame in that. Whatsoever.

Hootie 01-26-2013 06:38 PM

if they want to acquire a Flynn like QB for a 4th round pick and draft Geno #1 and let them compete for the starting job year 1 then that's fine with me

Hootie 01-26-2013 06:39 PM

I'd rather draft Geno and acquire or sign a Hasselbeck and go that route though. Either way we need two new QB's.

If Dorsey seriously believes in a slow rebuild by wasting the #1 overall pick on a LT that we already have, I'm cutting and running from this franchise, yes.

I've seen that movie before. Spoiler alert: it ****ing sucks.

Pooch 01-26-2013 06:45 PM

NFL Network's Mike Mayock stated that he was "disappointed" in West Virginia QB Geno Smith for passing on the Senior Bowl, deeming it a "lost opportunity."
"I’m disappointed in Geno Smith, he declined the invitation to come here," Mayock said. "... I think Geno Smith, who has first-round ability but is highly inconsistent, he could have come in here put on a show and confirmed high first-round status. I think he lost an opportunity here." Smith still has plenty of opportunities to show his wares at the February Combine and his March Pro Day.

Wanting your front office to try and get a good QB, and being happy everyone but one guy appear to suck in the draft, seem completely counter-productive to me.

Without have anyone decent to compare him to in the draft, it makes it even riskier. I'd hold out hope that Barkley puts on a show and makes Geno step up. Taking the best QB in a QB pool of duds isn't something I would hope for.

Even if he fails. Roating the first and second picks in each round gives lots of opportunities for quality players. This draft should make a nice difference even if the #1 flops.

It would be interesting to see how the rest of the draft went for the teams that drafted a bust QB #1 over all. Was their whole draft board a ****ing mess or just the top of it.

Draft a guy who helps you consistently win 6 games, never make the playoffs, and never be low enough in the draft to get a better potential franchise QB?

Either way that's completely irrelevant to anything I said. all I said was that it is silly to have hoped the QBs sucked today to make Geno the obvious choice.

FYI, if you're only winning 6 games, you're gonna have a top 10 pick most years.

Dumb argument.

Contrary to bizarre belief, Ryan Tannehill sucked this year. And I will be more than happy to give you guys our top 10 draft pick QB. And it wasn't an argument. Hence why I made a disclaimer about how I never said not drafting a QB, was an option for the Chiefs.

there's no risk to begin with, much less anything to make it 'riskier'....except in the generic way that no pick is a guarantee, which goes without saying

If a player sucks and never ends up starting a game in their life, than clearly that is a bad result. If they go on to be a hall of fame QB, then that is a good result. Options for both good result and bad result = risk

I am trying to dumb this down for you guys, but I am having a hard time dropping down to your level...

Alex Smith, Matt Flynn, and Kirk Cousins would accomplish the same 6 wins every year bottomless pit you warn against

The only difference between drafting Sanchez or Jackson is that at least we would have tried. No better results, most likely. And no worse.

Some mocks have Cleveland taking another QB this year...the power of the new CBA.

Not sure why that matters when Geno looks great and fits the system that is going into place. Same results, no hypotheticals.

The Bad Guy 01-26-2013 08:06 PM

Anyone who wants Alex Smith as the QB here isn't qualified to offer a football opinion.

Smith's has been a dogshit QB in this league forever, and has a decent year when he's leashed by Harbaugh, and some here really think he's the answer.

Tough to say. I have not suffered the Geno Stockholm Syndrome that some of the people on this board have, so I do not see him as "great". Unless you mean in comparison to the rest of this draft class. In which case, that makes my point even stronger.

It's like you, and a handful of other people this board, along with Mel Kiper, have forgotten about EVERY OTHER QB CLASS BESIDES LAST YEAR. Not to mention, golden halo Andrew luck played like shit this year, and RG3 played well.. when he could stay healthy.

I went back and looked at the #1 picks back to 1999 (Tim Couch) Geno is arguably a better prospect than EVERY SINGLE QB except Luck. Of course, you will say i'm wrong, but I would like you to tell me WHY I am wrong. Is it Geno's impressive accuracy? How about his insane TD/int ratio? What about his imcreasing numbers every year? How about the fact he excelled in both Pro style and Air raid offenses? Well?
