Looking at radar, it's gonna take a good 2 hours to get all the rain out.

They MIGHT be able to get into playable weather within an hour.

What does the weather look like right now? Still heavy downpour? I have mlb.tv and they don't ever show any updates or let you know what's going on during delays.

Did I just hear that right? I thought I just heard Ryan Lefevre say that if the game doesn't resume the Royals lose the game 2-1.

He just repeated it, so yes he did say that.

SUSPENDED GAMES.
(a) A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated for any of the following reasons:
(1) A curfew imposed by law;
(2) A time limit permissible under league rules;
(3) Light failure or malfunction of a mechanical field device under control of the home club. (Mechanical field device shall include automatic tarpaulin or water removal equipment);
(4) Darkness, when a law prevents the lights from being turned on;

If they can't finish the game, since the Royals took the lead in the top of the inning it becomes a suspended game and must be completed.

Yeah, they just went over that, but they said a new rule was implemented this season that said that if it was the last game of the series between teams they revert back to the last completed inning which would mean the cardinals win and everything the Royals did in the ninth doesn't count.

Yeah, but don't get too excited. If they don't start the game back up it sounds like the Royals lose 2-1 on a technicality. Since it is the Royals I'm fully expecting it to happen.

Sweet merciful ****! Of course. Perfect. This is the perfect season.

chiefsfan987 05-30-2013 11:19 PM

The umpiring crew doing this game has to drive to Chicago for a day game tomorrow/today. I can't imagine they are going to wait it out much longer since they have to get going.

wazu 05-30-2013 11:19 PM

Radar looks like it should be clear for awhile here soon...so perfect time to call it over.

It's all about what defines an "inning" and how many innings it takes to constitute a "game". Baseball is weird like that.

wazu 05-30-2013 11:25 PM

No that's wrong. The rules changed in 2008. If the game isn't completed today, they'll complete it another day.

It was changed again this year is what the Royals radio crew said. They were reading their rule book on the air and said the Royals lose 2-1 if it doesn't start back up. My guess is that is the case or they would have already called it. I have a feeling the umps don't want to take heat for calling a game that gives the team that is losing the victory. There is no reason for them to wait two hours otherwise. If it was just a suspended game, they would have called it by now don't you think?

shorman22 05-30-2013 11:40 PM

Radio crew or the TV crew?

cosmo20002 05-30-2013 11:44 PM

Is there still some sort of curfew rule where they don't play past a certain time? I think it only applied to starting a new inning, but I can't remember for sure and don't feel like looking it up. A little help--?

Radio crew said it. They were reading right out of the rule book. They said there was an addition to the rule this year that said if it was the last game of the series they'd revert back to the last completed inning.

They are doing all they can to, but I just honestly don't think they can wait another 30 minutes. The ump crew has to get out of town. They are driving to Chicago AND there is a cerfew rule. The rain needs to stop, like now, or the Royals are going to lose.

I can't remember what Inning we're up to. Is it because we scored those winnings runs at the top of an inning, and we're stuck before the bottom of that inning.

If you call this game, the next time you come to Kansas City, we sure as hell will give you the Cano treatment.

SPchief 05-31-2013 12:03 AM

Game is in the hands of Joe West. IF he calls it, Cards win. IF he chooses to wait it out, we'll play on at some point. Good news is that I don't see how West calls this if there's a break in the system. Which there appears to be.

IMO Joe West is a good baseball guy and has been around for years. I don't think he calls this unless there's no chance of the rain stopping. But I think it'll stop so he'll hold out for awhile

cosmo20002 05-31-2013 12:06 AM

They should stay all ****ing night if they have to. No way you can give the win to a team losing by 2 in the 9th, bases loaded, no outs. This could have playoff implications. Not for the Royals, but still...

AussieChiefsFan 05-31-2013 12:08 AM

So if they decide to continue, when will they? Isn't it like 1am in KC?

I just think he doesn't want to take the heat from the ****storm that will follow if he does. Having said that at some point they'll have to call it if it doesn't stop raining. This is the longest rain delay I can remember without having them have called it by now. It's been at least 2 and a half hours. They don't wait that long generally before calling a game.

In this situation, they'll wait it out if they see a break in the storm The shitstorm that would come from a team losing while being ahead is huge.

chiefsfan987 05-31-2013 12:12 AM

Anyone know how long it takes to drive from St. Louis to Chicago? The umpire crew has to be there by 1:20pm Central. That's what time the Cubs game they are umpiring starts.
