So am I reading this right? No confirmation on Powe McDougald?

That was a whirlwind of changes. It must be reiterated, **** PIOLI.

God how were we stuck with this assbag for so long?

Marcus Cooper highlights he looks like a special teams stud and could turn into a very good man to man corner

So we traded Edgar Jones who has 1.5 sacks in his 6 years in the league and picked up a guy who had 4 sacks last year as a rookie? Great move there.

The only confirmation I can find about any of these moves is this

Quote:

Dezman Moses and James-Michael Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs linebackers: Undrafted out of Tulane, Moses generated rave reviews in minicamps and training camp before tallying four sacks with the Packers last season. It's no surprise that general John Dorsey, a former Packers executive, is taking a flier on Moses. Johnson was a fourth-round pick by the Browns last year.

Chad Hall

Quote:

We knew Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid would be keeping a close eye on the Philadelphia Eagles cuts. But it would appear he also has his eyes on former players around the league
Reid claimed Chad Hall off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers, the wide receiver confirmed.
Hall went undrafted out of Air Force in 2008, but ended up catching on with Reid and the Eagles in 2010. Though he was unable to make it past the final cuts that year, he was signed to the Philadelphia practice squad.
The story was similar for Hall in 2011, when Reid didn’t keep him beyond the cut down to 53, but added him again tot he practice squad.
During both seasons with the Eagles, Hall found his way to the active roster, catching 14 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
Hall found his way to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad in 2012 and earned a promotion to the active roster before the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons. Not a bad way to earn a Super Bowl ring!
Unfortunately Hall was unable to stick with the 49ers, but he is reunited with Reid, who has been looking for ways to overhaul the depth at wide receiver.

Cutting 3 guys who were easily some of the best on your roster at special teams... that's a tough sell. Especially Brown and Copper, who can do things beyond special teams too.

I trust Toub knows what he's doing. I have doubts about whether this was his decision.

The Wylie cut is fine if Chad hall is a legit depth receiver who can return punts well. I think the jalil brown cut is downright stupid. We are walking into the season with 3 corners and 6 safeties. And no, I highly doubt this was toubs choice to cut three exceptional special teams aces in one offseason, especially after they crushed it in the preseason.

5 CBs counting the waiver claims, yo.

Cutting ST talent is always a risk, but it's not like Brown and Wylie were (presumably) studs under the old system.

Fair point. I saw a report that didn't include the CB additions.

I'll wait to see how Cooper and Parker fare. Cooper is a bit intriguing, but I'm doubtful both will bring more value than Brown can bring as a special teams ace.

Sorry, but the cuts of Javier Arenas and Jalil Brown feel more like purging Pioli players than it does moves to better the roster. Those moves are headscratchers for a team desperate for CB depth.

Arenas would be our 4th best CB right now by a mile. Arguably as good as Dunta Robinson.

Those complaining that Brown won't see the field can't explain why we're keeping 6 safeties on this roster. And right now, it's a huge gamble that Parker (a guy continually cut by other teams) is going to be better as a CB, let alone contribute on special teams.

The majority of the bubble guys who beat Brown for a roster spot are either never going to see the field or will be as bad if not worse in depth situations. All the while being much worse on special teams.

As with anything, I'll give it time. But if Parker and Cooper are not terrific in nickel/dime or don't have upside to be starters or quality backups, then this was a terrible cut. And I'm especially not crazy about cutting Brown while keeping 6 safeties on the roster.

Dave Toub was specifically grooming Brown and Wylie to be gunners. Which means he believed these two guys were very good at special teams. You can say what you want about their value as roster players, but let's not make up the story they weren't anything short of very good at special teams.

Those complaining that Brown won't see the field can't explain why we're keeping 6 safeties on this roster. And right now, it's a huge gamble that Parker (a guy continually cut by other teams) is going to be better as a CB, let alone contribute on special teams.

I only count 5 safeties, to go along with 5 CBs.

That this was not Toub's decision, despite what people on this thread are claiming.

And I have some concerns that some guys are getting cut because they are Pioli guys, and people are getting signed only because they are connected to seattle/green bay/49ers/eagles.

I believe Sanders Commings is still on the 53. Correct me if I'm wrong.
