Look at Elliott's numbers during his time in St. Louis - NOBODY is better than him. Look at his GAA, SV%, QS% or any advance metric you'd like. At worst he's the equal of guys like Price and yet Hitch does everything in his power to bury him.

I saw someone on hfboards say "there's a book on him," so I looked it up and only found a couple of things (which could still make him a repeat offender)... a high stick on Jeff Carter in the playoffs, and he once killed Matt Cooke (the latter shouldn't really count against him though). Maybe there's more though, I know he's not Lady Byng. Oh, and 5 games for that Daniel Sedin hit.

Blackhawks fans seemed to think the last 5 games were fair (and some were saying it looked like an accident LMAO )... everyone else seemed to think ~10 games was fair, but kind of depends on how much they value playoff games. Maybe 5 regular season plus a couple playoff games is enough. :shrug:

I just hate underhanded stick-work. That shit he did on the face-off with Tarsenko where just as the puck is dropped he hooks Tarasenko's knee and tries to yank his leg. If Tarasenko loses his left edge there, he could easily blow out his knee there. It's just dirty and there's no cause for it.

And yeah, the fact that he doesn't do his own dirty work irks me as well. If you're going to be a dirty shithead, go do it and back yourself up. Keith's not a small guy; he should be able to stand up for himself. Don't stand behind the referee yelling 'wakey wakey, Backes' after one of your guys elbows him into next month and he literally can't stand on his own.

Keith's nothing more than a more talented Jordin Tootoo, IMO. Pens current lack of success amounts to a distinct lack of goaltending. Fleury is serviceable in the regular season but not so in the playoffs.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high but their playing tough and I can't imagine the other teams in the east would want another team to beat up and wear down the Caps in the 1st round. Those two teams go at it when they play.

This is a false narrative as far as I'm concerned.

The past two failed playoff runs have not been because of ineffective play from Fleury. Two years ago, Fleury battled to a 1-0 Game 7 loss against Lundqvist and the Rangers. A season ago, Fleury lost all four games to the Rangers by 2-1 scorelines, and it was abysmal coaching by Mike Johnston and a listless offense that were at fault.

The onus has been on the offense to produce come playoff time, and they've failed spectacularly given the talent on the roster. Fleury has done his part these past few playoffs to show that his head is on straight, and it syncs with him having a new goalie coach.

Perhaps Fleury shits the bed again these playoffs and the Penguins are ousted once more by the Rangers, but you can't enter these playoffs thinking the same old narrative of "Fleury folds come playoff time".
