Yes, it's odd, but it's a great problem to have.

No it isn't.

I'd rather one of them just get injured.

You're not winning a Stanley Cup without your goalie standing on his head and probably stealing at least one round. A goalie's not going to do that if his coach isn't going to commit to him.

Ask Urban Myer how dicking around with 3 potential All-American Quarterbacks worked out for him.

Look at Elliott's numbers during his time in St. Louis - NOBODY is better than him. Look at his GAA, SV%, QS% or any advance metric you'd like. At worst he's the equal of guys like Price and yet Hitch does everything in his power to bury him.

This is stupid. Some day somebody will have to tell me why the hell we didn't hire Todd McLellan when he was out there to be had. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Ducks will fire Bruce Boudreau in the offseason.

Lot's of teams with only one starter-level goalie have lost in the post season, including the Stanley cup - to include the Blues.

But I respect your point too.

:clap:As long as they make the playoffs the Leafs will get their 1st rounder in the Kessel trade.

I'd prefer that they squeak in though.

Don't think I've ever had a troll stalker here before... someone who I can talk to like they're 7 and they think they're the one trolling me, someone who goes thread to thread talking about me but thinks they're the one in my head.

Keep pushing those imaginary buttons, I guess... maybe you'll get lucky and get a name change or something that shows my rage for someone being stupid on purpose all by himself! ...could be the first time in the history of the internet, now that I think about it.

:D

I saw someone on hfboards say "there's a book on him," so I looked it up and only found a couple of things (which could still make him a repeat offender)... a high stick on Jeff Carter in the playoffs, and he once killed Matt Cooke (the latter shouldn't really count against him though). Maybe there's more though, I know he's not Lady Byng. Oh, and 5 games for that Daniel Sedin hit.

Blackhawks fans seemed to think the last 5 games were fair (and some were saying it looked like an accident LMAO )... everyone else seemed to think ~10 games was fair, but kind of depends on how much they value playoff games. Maybe 5 regular season plus a couple playoff games is enough.

I just hate underhanded stick-work. That shit he did on the face-off with Tarsenko where just as the puck is dropped he hooks Tarasenko's knee and tries to yank his leg. If Tarasenko loses his left edge there, he could easily blow out his knee there. It's just dirty and there's no cause for it.

And yeah, the fact that he doesn't do his own dirty work irks me as well. If you're going to be a dirty shithead, go do it and back yourself up. Keith's not a small guy; he should be able to stand up for himself. Don't stand behind the referee yelling 'wakey wakey, Backes' after one of your guys elbows him into next month and he literally can't stand on his own.

Keith's nothing more than a more talented Jordin Tootoo, IMO. All those guys that think fighting is bad for the game are overlooking the more sinister stuff; that cheap stickwork like the obvious intentional slashes and butt-ends that guys give when they know nobody's looking. Take away fighting and you'll see even more of that shit and it's just awful for the sport.

Matt Cook is the Apex one who sucks the penis. He should've been thrown out of the league 5 years ago for his obviously intentional knee to knee hits (another peeve of mine).

I agree about the underhanded stick work... I remember Marty Turco in particular getting away with that shit in the calves and behind the knee of defensemen. And what Keith did the other night shouldn't be tolerated... there's just no talking his way out of it.

And I agree with the fighting, there is a reason for it beyond entertainment value.

Our resident Blackhawks fans are suspiciously silent.

I wonder if they burned all their energy for quixotic efforts in defending their favorite alcoholic rapist.

I mean, they're still going to beat us in the first round, but god it would suck having to stick up for Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith. At some point you have to actually enjoy the people wearing the laundry and not just the laundry itself.

Wait, I forgot that it's all Patrick Sharp's fault and everything's cool there now that he's gone and no longer banging his teammates wives...

DJ's left nut 04-01-2016 01:11 PM

I'll allow it.

Eric Brewer absolutely pummeling Cooke after he ran our goalie was pretty much the only time I had any respect for Eric Brewer. He really did just beat the shit out of that turtling clown.

You get points into heaven every time you make Matt Cooke suffer.

Even God hates Matt Cooke.

Bearcat 04-01-2016 07:52 PM

Keith got the last 5 games and game one of the playoffs... out $148,883.35. Definitely not a statement by any means, considering they're a pretty low risk to drop into a WC at this point.

DJ's left nut 04-01-2016 08:09 PM

That's the dept of players safety for ya.

"Rest up and get ready for the playoffs, Dunc...."

Weak penalty for a guy with his past. The NHL should've sent a message that using the stick as a weapon is completely unacceptable.

Pens current lack of success amounts to a distinct lack of goaltending. Fleury is serviceable in the regular season but not so in the playoffs.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high but their playing tough and I can't imagine the other teams in the east would want another team to beat up and wear down the Caps in the 1st round. Those two teams go at it when they play.

This is a false narrative as far as I'm concerned.

The past two failed playoff runs have not been because of ineffective play from Fleury. Two years ago, Fleury battled to a 1-0 Game 7 loss against Lundqvist and the Rangers. A season ago, Fleury lost all four games to the Rangers by 2-1 scorelines, and it was abysmal coaching by Mike Johnston and a listless offense that were at fault.

The onus has been on the offense to produce come playoff time, and they've failed spectacularly given the talent on the roster. Fleury has done his part these past few playoffs to show that his head is on straight, and it syncs with him having a new goalie coach.

Perhaps Fleury shits the bed again these playoffs and the Penguins are ousted once more by the Rangers, but you can't enter these playoffs thinking the same old narrative of "Fleury folds come playoff time".

It's more so the defensive lapses and undisciplined play at times that have cost the Pens. Fleury has bounced back nicely past few years. Hope his concussion issues are ok for the playoffs. Pens are on a roll right now. Crushed Philly today. Seems like every night they're scoring 5 goals.

Good to see the Preds win last night but kind of sucks it was at the expense of the Avs last playoff hope, even worse that the damn wild clinch. Would have loved to see the wild miss the playoffs.
