They aren't.

It's not a bad trade. It's just not.

you weren't getting this level of play from #29. to get an elite player, you were going to have to give something up, and a #2 in next year's draft is 'capital'. No big deal. You also gained 8 spots in round 3 THIS year.

Seattle just paid the shit out of Russell Wilson. They needed to clear space.
Clark is a dominant, elite level DE.

We weren't going to do better.

Ford also played 400 more snaps then Clark

You mean that the other way around? Clark played more than Ford?

I will support the player because it is the right thing to do.

But unless Veach's draft picks start hitting and fairly quick-like, I'm done with him. I don't understand how a person can be THIS shitty in free agency. He can't gather compensation worth a ****, but he doles it out as if there were unlimited cap room. Does he fancy himself THAT good of a contract negotiator, that he can structure everyone to avoid overlap so that we can keep the players we need to keep?
Maybe. Maybe that's the ONE thing he's good at? I don't know.
But so far, he hasn't been that impressive on his own. Getting Honey Badger when your cap purse is full of money is one thing, but grabbing a quasi-elite pass rusher and paying him 63 guaranteed when you barely have a LB or CB corps is not something I would count as being "great management".

I'm done being lenient and understanding with this GM. I'm done defending him and backing him. And he gets ZERO free rides for being a scout that saw a great QB. That shit is done and gone.

The honeymoon is over.

You are done being lenient. Whew, thank the lord for that. At least we now know that some blowhard on CP is no longer going to be lenient with Veach. I'll sleep much better tonight.

reading around on reddit and other sites, the general consensus among Seahawk fans seem to be that they love Clark and will miss him, but are happy with the compensation that they got and aren't paying a $105 mill contract.

You're forgetting Fuller in there as well. One of the better slot corners out there. Agree they need to draft a CB early to start the process of getting the next one here to take their spot next year.

That says a lot about how Ford is viewed around the league, too, and why the compensation for Ford was what it was, and why he agreed to a deal that was so team friendly.

Ford is an oft-injured one-trick pony best used as a 3rd down specialist. And the league knows it.

Massive upgrade.

We're finally taking risks.

Good.

carcosa 04-23-2019 01:40 PM

I don't see how you can't be excited about this. Watch Clark play and look at the stats and listen to the experts who say he's a huge upgrade over Ford. I initially balked at the compensation a bit, too, but who the **** really cares? This is the sort of move that a championship team makes. This is going all in for Cueto and Zobrist. The Mahomes rookie contract window is wide open and they're going to do everything it takes to fly through it.

At a minimum, Frank Clark knows which side of the neutral zone to line up on. Last year, that would have literally been enough to GO TO THE SUPER BOWL.

ALL IN, MOTHER****ERS!!!!!

I know he had a big sack year, but the guy was never a pass rusher and I highly doubt he turned into that kind of pass rusher overnight.

His PFF grade wasn’t all that great, so I think it was an outlier.

Love that quote. I was not a fan of this trade at first but the more I think about it the better I like it. Our 29th pick wouldn't have come close to Clark talent-wise and we can afford him. We've unloaded Berry's, Houston's, and Ford's contracts already. We can fit him in.

Am I talking to a wall? It's not about the pick or picks in this particular case, it's about the body of work as a whole and so far, it's just not that impressive.

If his drafting were better, I can cut slack on the compensation for trade-outs.

If his negotiations for extensions were the kind that made you say, "how did we get away with that"(?), I can cut slack on the drafting.

Do you even SOMEWHAT understand the point I'm trying to make here? Like, at all?

First reactions OMG, THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER. I'M SUPER ****ING PISSED!!!!!!

600 posts later: THIS GUY IS A STUD! WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!

To be fair, I was busy the first 550 posts and the rest of my fellas didn't know what to think until I let them know that Charles Jefferson was coming in here thinking the QBs of the AFCW trashed his camaro.

Exactly the case. Garafolo also confirmed this on NFL.Com.

We moved up quite a bit in the 3rd round.

I have just checked the draft chart and basically the Chiefs traded the equivalent of their 29th overall pick and a low 3rd/high 4th round pick this year for Frank Clark, assuming the Chiefs finish with a top 3 record next year.

If his drafting were better, I can cut slack on the compensation for trade-outs.

The Chiefs retain the higher second round pick. So essentially we traded a third round pick since we will be winning the super bowl this year

Future picks have a value of around one round 1 in current terms. So basically a late 2nd in 2020 is worth a late 3rd today. Basically they flipped a 2+3 for a high end edge rusher.

Plus we don’t know how the contract is structured

The Franchise 04-23-2019 01:56 PM

Maybe the Seahawks can use #29 to draft another Rashaad Penny.

If you don’t trust his drafting...why are you complaining out him trading draft picks for a vet?

They’re always making WTF picks every year, I swear.

Whoever they get has about a 1% chance of being on Clark’s level... IMO

New World Order 04-23-2019 01:58 PM

An extra second next year to move up and draft Fisher's replacement so we can save some dough.

Lol when last time a chiefs player did this

To be honest this video and the Fisher clip were two good LT's caught in horrendous footwork. But I still like the Trade because late round 1 picks can easily bust. Film doesn't lie Frank is a player.
