Anthony McFarland hasn’t been drafted? Really? I’m actually shocked bc I thought he would for sure be gone in rd 4. What a goddamn steal!
The Vikings select Anthony McFarland RB, Maryland |
I only have 1 more pick for the falcons and it’s not till the 7th. Here’s what I got so far.
Patrick Queen, LB, LSU Marlon Davidson, EDGE, Auburn Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame Lamical Perine, RB, Florida Reggie Robinson, CB, Tulsa I’ve still got a 6th and 7th left for Pittsburgh and have added some firepower for them...I’d have liked to have gotten a QB for them to replace BigBen, but I never saw the value and upside when I was on the clock. No first rounder Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas Anfernee Jennings, LB, Alabama Latrell Murchison, DT, NC State This draft class is loaded. I probably could have made better choices had I knew how the board was going to fall, but I’m happy with the guys I got. |
The San Francisco 49ers select Michael Ojemudia, CB, Iowa.

The Jacksonville Jaguars select Harrison Hand, CB, Temple

The New York Jets select Trevis Gipson, DE, Tulsa

Las Vegas Raiders select Simon Stepaniak OL Indiana

The arena door opens, and in runs a woman wearing a manatee suit. She trips and fall, then gets back up and picks up the card from the Tampa table.

With a massive crush of noise, workers with cranes also move a giant water tank onto the stage, which contains a real manatee.

"Buccaneers fans aren't just the humans who live in Tampa," the woman says with a chipper voice. "Manatees also like our pewter and silver team. So in honor of the manatees, Milton from the Tampa Zoo will make our next pick."
Workers quickly arrange a large number of printed letters on the floor in front of the manatee tank and Milton moves slowly to the front of the tank to investigate. "He's pointing at a T," the woman says, and a worker writes "T" on a whiteboard near the tank." "Now an h." "It looks like an e." "Now a space. He's finished a word." "Okay, T again." "Now an a." "An m. I think he may be spelling Tampa now." Goodell comes to the stage and takes the mic. "Okay, this is taking forever. Just make the pick already." The zoo worker nods in her manatee costume and offers an embarrassed smile. "With the 161st pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Tyre Phillips, OT, Mississippi State University." The manatee in the tank looks disappointed. It points at a letter F. Then a U. The workers quickly employ the crane to move the tank offstage. |

A messenger manatee has been dispatched to Washington to carry news that they're on the clock. It should make its way up the coast within a few months.

The Washington Redskins select McTelvin Agim, DT/DE, Arkansas
Agim is a top 75 player on a few big boards and most don’t see him dropping out of the top 100. A 3 tech in a 4-3 scheme or 5 tech in a 3-4, Agim’s versatilty as a strong, gap penetrator will appeal to any team. |

The Green Bay Packers select Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado
Taylor is the 2nd CU Buffalo the Packers have drafted. No, I'm not a CU homer. I have zero connection to that place other than they used to be in the Big 12. Packers get a very nice high upside player at this point in the draft. It will be a bit of a puzzle for them to figure if they want him inside or outside. Very raw, not much experience, but seems like a good kid. They'll throw everything at him and see if he takes to playing inside or outside-- the Packers could use both. |
I’m on my phone so I scrolled and scrolled and couldn’t see if this stud was selected.
I’ll check back in a few minutes to see if someone can tell me he has been selected. The 49ers select DT Neville Gallimore, Oklahoma. I’ll search one more time then message the next guy. |

I PM'd Direckshun to let him know Gallimore had been taken.

The Chiefs rush to the draft podium, having received a pm from the 49ers that they're up. Goodell stops them because he only lets the patriots do that.
|
Pandemonium breaks out. The Chiefs are at the podium, the 49ers are nowhere to be found, and there's still a live manatee from the Buccaneers' previous pick on the stage, surrounded by strippers and Boomer Grigsby. Goodell has lost control of the process.

The oldest man in Florida drives his red Mercedes through the wall of the arena, narrowly missing the Buffalo Bills table. Walt Disney's severed head laughs uproariously.

It's like a scene from Jumanji in the draft room. Herds of wild cattle are thundering through the aisles. Monkeys are up in the rafters. There's a witch doctor doing something at the Bengals table. Belichick is climbing onto his table as an older Asian woman uses hand sanitizer nearby. Direckshun has broken the draft, and the only thing he can do to save it is to figure out the mysterious search code left to him by the ancient Mayans.

Oddly, a fellow in a Rams uniform walks in and goes to the Chiefs table to pick up their card. He goes to the microphone as a low buzz of speculation reverberates around the room.
The Ram takes the podium. "The Chiefs have the 177th pick in the draft," he says, "if you don't count those two extra picks that the 49ers just made. Only one Chief has ever been drafted with the 177th pick, and he was my former college teammate Chris Golub." "My name is Nolan Cromwell, and you may remember me from my 11-year career as a safety with the Los Angeles Rams, featuring four pro bowls. But before that, Chris and I were part of the powerhouse 1976 Kansas Jayhawk team that saw seven players get drafted into the NFL's first eight rounds of the draft. I was the quarterback of that team and I was drafted in the second round as a free safety. My teammate Chris was our free safety at Kansas, and he went to the Chiefs with the 177th pick of the draft." "Unfortunately, Chris did not make the team in 1978, and a year later he was killed in a car wreck. So we'll have much better wishes for the Chiefs' next #177, and I think he'll be great." "With the 177th pick in the NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Antonio Gibson, WR, Memphis." A familiar song starts, and Cromwell dances off the stage singing his iconic lines from the Rams promotional video, "Let's Ram It". "I like to ram it, as you can see, nobody likes ramming it more than me." <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YZO8Zeye5K0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

The actual Chiefs are strongly linked to Gibson. Would not at all be surprised to see him get drafted by us
|
Gibson caught my attention with a 4.39 for a guy who weighs 228. He'll be a fun new toy for Reid and Mahomes. I probably would've drafted this guy earlier if I had known about him.
And the 1976 Kansas Jayhawks are pretty interesting. They averaged 11 passes and 63 runs per game. Cromwell was a western Kansas kid who was recruited as a safety, but they moved him to quarterback in their wishbone offense. He got injured his senior year, but to that point he had 43 passing attempts and 113 rushing attempts. He then moved back to safety when he got to the NFL. In turn, Golub took Cromwell's place at free safety. Golub was a local kid who went to Shawnee Mission High School, but as Mr. Cromwell noted, he lasted a year with the Chiefs. He got cut from the Bears in 1978 and later that fall his car collided with a tractor trailer near Olathe and he was killed. Overall, the 1976 Jayhawks had 117 pass attempts on the season and 666 rushes. Times have changed. |

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2020/...antonio-gibson I mean, it's hard to argue against. He screams Andy Reid. Shit, he's tall for a RB. Teach him how to throw, and he's probably a better QB than Taysom Hill. The guy could do absolutely anything. |
Holy cow. Nolan Cromwell is a really accomplished guy. Why has ubeja not told us about his track exploits?

The Chiefs' draft is complete. We frittered away our 6th and 7th round picks on some guys who won the Super Bowl. So we end our draft with these new future champions.
1-32. Zach Baun, LB, Wisconsin 2-63. Noah Igbinoghene, CB, Auburn 3-96. Ben Bredeson, G, Michigan 4-138. Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona State 5-177. Antonio Gibson, WR, Memphis We addressed a few needs in the first three rounds, but couldn't resist adding some weapons to the Mahomes arsenal later in the draft. I wanted to add a defensive end, but we didn't have enough picks for that. All in all, we added a bit of strength to almost every position group. |
Quote:
Looking at how the Chiefs have drafted the past several years, I really see only two players that were taken with the intent to immediately plug them into the starting lineup-- Nnadi and Thornhill. If the draft went this way, you've for sure drafted 3 immediate starters, and possibly 4. I don't think Veach's board will work out that way, but you never know. |
