Dancing with stars and oprah.

Simply not true. Yes, the past few nights have been ice skating, but there's also been plenty of other stuff going on, from curling to skiing to hockey. Coverage starts at noon on USA, then moves to CNBC and MSNBC before NBC finally starts their prime-time coverage. And, yes, in prime time, they tend to save the stuff they think will appeal to the widest audience, which includes women and grandparents, so stuff like ice skating tends to be prevalent. But you can turn to CNBC and see hockey at the same time. And right now they're showing ski-cross.
As for the backstory crap, that's NBC's fault, not the fault of the Olympics.
If you don't like it, feel free to not watch it. But to chalk up the Winter Olympics as "Oprah, 'Dancing With The Stars', and pussification" is just inaccurate.
