My guess is the league bans him for this year and the Chiefs put him on the list. Retain his rights for next season.

If this happens is his contract just paused during the suspension?

His salary is pretty low by NFL standards, but I agree with you. She should have dumped him when he beat her the first time. Battered wife syndrome is a real thing though. Too many times they stay in the abusive relationship.

Who knows? Nothing here makes any sense.

I agree, bunch of contradictory stuff going on in this situation.

We shall see how it plays out and I think the Chiefs should keep the rights to Tyreek while also keeping him suspended until we have a much better idea of the legal situation.

Actually, both of those things could be simultaneously true, Mr. tk13.

Tyreek could have cooperated while the authorities hold the opinion that a crime occurred.

Those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive concepts.

Be yourself. Some people will like you; some people will hate you; most probably won't give a shit one way or another. That's just the nature of this asylum.

And to that I say no. If he'll never play in the NFL, I think we could swallow that pill, but we sure as hell want the DA to at least file charges, and we want the NFL to ensure he doesn't ever play again in the NFL. And if he does, the Chiefs get to pick up right where they left off, so we can keep him or trade him.

Conflation and Tu Quoque are the last resort of an argument based on opinion rather than facts.

We poor Chiefs fans are immersed in a form of the "Liars Paradox", really. Someone says, "I am lying." If the speaker is lying, then the speaker is actually telling the truth. (And, of course, the opposite is also validated.)

Eventually, this may all boil down to the definition of "abuse". Based on what we've seen on this very site, there are varying opinions on that.

I think we can all agree that nobody knows the truth here ... not the entire truth, at least.

The thought of a Chiefs dynasty chills these folks blood, FACT. It's not a big money/ratings market, and it's a part of the US that most of them wish didn't even exist.
And if you're tired of being the "humored child", then you need stand up and accept a businesslike approach from the team, and expect nothing less going forward.

This is true. The idea of Mahomes being the GOAT sickens them. They don’t want to have to fly to KC for the next 10-20 years to kiss the ring.

But, but, but, not us right? I mean, we are blue bloods! Yes it includes you too KU fan.

Another thing the Chiefs should add to the list of things they're waiting on before they decide what to do with Tyreek. At this point, let the NFL know the game is on.

I believe you're more right than wrong. The fact is, the Chiefs and their fans just aren't USED to having to deal with this kind of crap, and on a regular basis. And there's a certain temptation by some fans to quickly "be above the fray" or to be the good guy, OR because it happens to be middle America, to go running for the morality clause that suits them best.

Teams have been dealing with this shit for years, only now it's more public, more loud, and much more of a media sideshow than it was in decades past. And while I can understand the desire to want to be freed from this nightmare, the best thing to do is let the Chiefs know that you don't want any more players like this. And you sure as hell don't want to get attached to them or come to depend on them, only to have them fail you like you probably knew they would.

When it comes to this particular situation, you HAVE to ride it out because letting top 5 talent just walk out the door should NEVER be the MO or SOP; that's just incredibly unsound judgment and business. And besides, we don't HAVE a long history of keeping dickbags around and on the roster, so we should expect and deserve an opportunity to let the process play out despite what the Mike Florios of the world may think.
