He was making more than most of them and still wants more (which directly impacts the Chiefs ability to pay other guys), while skipping one of the most brutal camps in football.

Most of those guys know their money will be elsewhere when their contract ends.

Veach isn't going to offer more. Jones has to know this by now.

Jones will never recoup the $ he loses from missing 8 games. It will also hurt his future contract $ regardless of who he plays for. So in his own self interest, he should sign. But apparently it is a pride thing.

So miss 8 games this year, then cap and trade during the off season, or a trade up against the trade deadline (the Chiefs have little incentive to trade earlier, unless someone offers them a great deal, which would have happened already) seem to be the most obvious outcomes.

So most probably:
Chiefs lose Chris Jones
Chris Jones has lower career earnings
Chris Jones has lower career productivity
Agent gets paid less

Who exactly is winning in this situation?

Pride? I guess?

I’ve been pissed off about losing FAR smaller sums of money than Jones is. I can’t even imagine.

Only thing I can think of is maybe Cris made some good investments that hit and he is making money hand over fist outside of football. Maybe why he says he can weather the 8 game loss of pay.

Pride is the exact answer, him and his agent are crying over the fact that the Chiefs aren't offering more, as if he currently isn't on a contract. I think the strategy behind holding out till week 8 is to possibly be traded to another team who can pay the amount he wants.

Simply Red 09-04-2023 10:39 PM

I'm going to bed if Chris doesn't extend soon!

No one. Jones will report the day after the opener.

Stupid, pedantic move to hold out a reg. season game as a hail mary.

I don’t think so.

He’s pot committed at this point.

OH WOW! I BET THE PLAYERS FORGOT ALL ABOUT WHAT ITS LIKE TO PLAY KC ALSO!! I TOTALLY FORGOT ALL PLAYER KNOWLEGDE IS WIPED UPON STAFF CHANGE!!

Always impressive when one is so confident on the internet but afraid to actually have any real skin in the game. You should be applauded.

Stand up, and put your hands together.

I think we’ll win the game 75% of the time. That’s down from 85% if CJ were playing. It’s so remarkable you feel so strongly about 10 percentage points.

Are you haunted by visions of Dan Campbell biting your kneecaps?

I can’t help but find it hysterical that the guy who thinks Andy Reid is an overrated, mediocre coach because he has so many postseason losses somehow is a full homer when it comes to Reid’s opening game record.

Dan Campbell. Nuff said.

I promise no one will miss either of us. Man up, bet the spread, and whoever loses disappears for a month. Call me a reerun and say this is the easiest bet you’ll ever win? Own up to that. Or is the ability to post on this precious message board just so very important that you wouldn’t risk it even for a sure thing?

I'm sorry you're sad that Andy Reid has lost more post season games he was favored to win than any other coach in Nfl history. I'm sorry you're sad when anyone brings up the amount of hardware Andy Reid should have if he were as great as the revisionists make him out to be.

10 title games. 2 rings. Grab a tissue. Cry it out. Andy without Patrick Mahomes never got it done. Philly couldn't wait to get rid of him and a good portion of this board never wanted him, so act as if Andy was some legend before 15 all you like. The facts show otherwise.

As for your bet, again, there's no point. I average less than 1 post per day over a 19 year membership. I read much, much more than I post.

And as I said, why would I rob myself of a month of your hilarious posts? People need a good laugh. You shoukd actually post more.

I've already called my shot here. 5 tds and 2fgs, 41-20 or 38-20 if Butker shanks one.

I think that covers your spread that you value so much, and should certainly count as a win in Megatron's book requiring double digit margins to qualify as actual wins.

Fir someone so confident we will win, using phrases like dramatic win, and "if we can manage to pull it out" suggests you think otherwise.

This isn't gonna be a game, TwistedPanties. It's gonna be a message. First to Chris Jones and his reeruned agent, and then the rest of the league.

We're back, we're better, and we don't need Chris Jones to roll over whoever is put in front of us.

Not worried Chris is going to hate himself if he miss opening night.

Gonna hate his agent more lmao.

Tonight I got Chris' number from a guy who gives handjobs in the Kemper Arena parking lot. I said "hey man, you gonna play this week?" He said "who the ****'s this?"

I don't appreciate swearing so I said "**** YOU FAT JONES, I HOPE YOU GET DIABETES AND LOSE A TOE YOU GREEDY BITCH." There was a pause and then he went "reeeeeeeeeeeee" and I heard what sounded like him slapping his meat.

It doesn't look good. From the way he was panting I doubt he's even in football shape.

ThyKingdomCome15 09-05-2023 12:56 AM

They say they're $10 mil apart on a multi year contract. Simple math here...

-Jones has racked up $2 mil in fines.
-Average missed game fine for Jones will be $1 mil.
-Jones is threatening to hold out until week 8

Sooo...

8 x 1 + 2 -10 = 0

Holding out until week nets a gain of a goose egg boys even if he gets what he wants! As several have mentioned before me he's recieving some terrible advice. In fact he could end up losing millions playing poker with Veach. Look no further than Orlando Brown for for reference.

Veach holds all the cards here and I hope Chris hasn't fooled himself believing otherwise. Don't meas with the Wizard.
