What you are either missing or not wanting to admit is when we go towards the end zone, Smith does good. When we go sideways all the time, then not so much.

That's the point, though. When you play like Alex Smith you HAVE to play mistake-free football. That's the point. If you don't, you're not an effective QB.
Smith HAS to be accurate on those throws, because he hardly ever supplements his game with putting the ball down the field and spreading out the defense. We're getting stacked 8 and sometimes 9 guys in the box against our RBs because they don't respect the short passing game.
If he makes one or two bone-headed mistakes like he did today, that can be all the difference in coming out with a W or L.
It's why we're going to get ****ed hard in the playoffs.
