What's stupid? How does it disadvantage any other team?

We had an unprecedented situation. I would imagine the vast majority of NFL fans would prefer this rather than awarding a no-contest. Luckily, the NFL has an extra week and probably has a more flexible structure given what it went through with covid and the contingencies developed.

Playing the game should ALWAYS be the preferred outcome. If you want to talk about stupid, we can discuss some of the twitter rumors thrown around in this thread.

Just assume the dumbest possible answer and you're gonna be right 80% of the time.

They probably like what the brain scans showed. At this point and ever since basically a few hours after it happened his prognosis wasn’t going to change much, it was just waiting to see the prognosis.

This game should have been played today. If they are waiting until he can walk around again and has no more heart issues to worry about they’ll be waiting until next season.

The league needs to change the name of the superbowl trophy to the Damardi Trophy and gently place it in his unconscious arms on a live feed. Season concluded. Buffalo wins the whole thing

Do the right thing!

The NFL is worth billions of dollars and continuously growing.

I'm guessing they know what they're doing.

Resuming the game WAS the preferred outcome until they chose not to resume it this week.

You can't push the rest of the season back for one game. It's absurd.

Also, I seriously doubt Buffalo really wants to go back to Cincy in the next week or so and relive all this again. Obviously, they may have no choice if seedings work out that way to go back for the playoffs, but I can't imagine the mental aspect if they are forced to replay this regular season game.

It’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense

This was proposed earlier in the thread but the following week's games would be Buffalo/Cincy + NFC Wildcard games. Then the following weekend would be AFC Wildcard games while NFC teams had a rest. And then the playoffs would resume as per normal.

I don't really understand why people would be opposed to this unless you were really hoping that the situation would resolve itself in favor of the Chiefs getting the 1 seed without Buffalo/Cincy being played.

So you want to create advantages for teams that had nothing to do with the original game?

Dumb.

Yes, nothing more absurd has ever been done in the history of the world. I'm sure they'll talk about it for decades how the entire playoffs were moved back by one week.

You guys get triggered so easily.

Their attitude was clearly "this is bigger than football. **** football right now"

That's fine and completely understandable, but the show must go on. If football isn't important, then they should have no issue accepting that the game doesn't get played now.

You can't have it both ways.

more terrible takes by you

man.. you're filled with them on this issue

demanding the game get played Wednesday or even Thursday at the latest was not 'within 24 hours'

why can't you admit this a huge mistake? you cN absolutely care for damar, postpone the game AND give them the option to play Wednesday/Thurs let them decide. if they can't, its ok but they gotta forfeit.

not rocket surgery & doesn't mean no one "cares"

Exactly. The teams decided to not play, they made the choice. Buffalo is still acting ridiculous about it all from what is coming out of Buffalo radio.

I get it they are concerned about Hamlin but playing or not playing isn't affecting his health.
