If Carol would have stepped up and tried to teach the residents how to fight sooner perhaps so many would not be killed so easily?

Unless they developed his character more, and he shows he can make amends for his cowardice. That will be a very interesting character development.

On another note, I'm very disappointed in Morgan leaving. I was really excited when he came back. Though his new outlook on life is also a disappointing turn. It's so naive.

Morgan hasn't left yet... Need to wait and see if that is the direction they go. Not convinced though

I don't think he is leaving. Also, if you noticed at the end he had a gun on his hip. I'm thinking he realized that sometimes you do have to kill.
