Bump for a WC clincher tonight!

It's kind of lessened because of having to play the one game playoff to make the actual playoffs, heh.

No.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-01-2012 06:55 PM

Yes. They don't make the playoffs unless they win the "play-in game". Sorry.

It's a crapshoot "Game 163"

Mi_chief_fan 10-01-2012 08:00 PM

Sounds like your team will be watching mine play in the postseason, and you're bitter about it. Cub fan, I presume?

Pasta Little Brioni 10-01-2012 08:02 PM

You even read this thread LMAO Not a typical Cardinal homer like the 90 percent (not this board) are, so sorry for causing the butthurt. The truth is if the same rules that had been in place for ever had been in play, they are sitting at home. Now they at least get a chance to back that ass up Herm style in.

I'm a Wildcard hater, much less two sneaking in. Has nothing to do with the team, I'm just consistent with my dislike of it.

Mi_chief_fan 10-01-2012 08:06 PM

haven't read the entire thread, you a cards fan? If so, sorry about the Cub inference, but you're the one complaining about "game 163", I could care less how they get in.

Win or lose that game, if they play in it, they made the playoffs. Granted, not much of an accomplishment if they lose, but it is what it is.

As the announcers just said, it's quite an accomplishment that they're still in contention considering everything they've endured this season.

Yeah, I just hate the WildCard. Loved the old school top 2 getting in heh. That's mean calling me a sCrUB.

Yeah, I get it. I'm just trying to stay consistent with my criticism of it.

I don't like it, either. I preferred it the way it was.

But, the way it was, we're already eliminated, so what the hell, I'll take it.

KC_Connection 10-01-2012 08:12 PM

It doesn't make a lot of sense that teams are also playing completely different schedules for the same two wildcard spots. If you're going to have a Wild Card, you should at least balance the schedule.

Hey, I apologized for that. Under the old system, it would be Montreal vs. Cincinnati, and Texas vs. NYY/baltimore winner, right?

Yes, I miss Les Expos.

Kind of ironic, those seasons a few years ago when they were so dominant in the regular season, all they had to show for it was one pennant and a totally embarrassing World Series loss. They eek in on the last day of the season in '06 and '11 and win it all. If there's a pattern developing there, it works for me. :thumb:

Yeah, that sucked large. But they've certainly atoned since.

Giants with the early lead over LA, 1-0 in the 1st.
