Keep it up, bro. Drive that price down.

I noticed earlier that you alluded to the unknowns of future seasons. There are unknowns in the future of this season as well.
You have come across as give me a SB this year ramifications be damned. As if any team has ever "bought" a SB.
We have stars that will need to be paid very nicely starting this off season. Players like Fuller, Jones, Hill and Ragland not to mention that we are going to have to do something with Ford and Houston then there will also be FA and the draft.
I am glad that our GM doesn't think like you are currently.

That's fine, we don't agree.

I don't think Mahomes is a flash in the pan. I just don't gamble with the future when I have a winner right in front of me.

I said earlier:

When a guy is up $50 on the nickel slots, he cashes out and moves on. The guy that continues to put in nickels thinking he can increase his winnings is the guy that ends up going home broke.

And if they pay Ragland, they're even worse at evaluating talent than I thought. He's freaking awful.

I am fine with a trade and sign for a few reasons. First of all, if we are trading picks we aren’t trading anything we have invested in already. Big difference from baseball trades so that removes some of the risk from my perspective.

Next, any pick we would make if we don’t have him, would likely be until a few years before that player has a significant impact. So at least two years of this offense wouldn’t benefit from the pick most likely.

Lastly, I think you have to consider the wider landscape. The teams we may be competing against on the AFC side are either very vulnerable with declining QBs or teams with QBs not there yet. In a few years who knows what other QBs or teams will emerge. I am convinced our window won’t go anywhere as long as we have Mahomes but right now the window looks about as open as it possibly could given the QBs in the AFC right now.

I wonder if you could get him with a 3 year deal?

Sassy Squatch 09-24-2018 09:02 PM

Bright side of things, we might not be THAT far apart since we've apparently had open dialogue since August, and he seems determined to get out now.

O.city 09-24-2018 09:02 PM

I get why the Steelers and Seahawks are doing what they're doing with their two guys, they don't wanna set a precedence for a player forcing his way to a new deal or out.

But it's such a damn distraction.

There's no asking price too high, sorry.

That's where we differ. I look at this last draft and I see nothing but failure. Thomas is a known quantity. I'd give our entire 2018 draft for him and not even think about it. The good news is that it won't take our entire draft. It might take a Breeland Speaks and an Armani Watts.

TOTALLY worth it.

I agree.

Veach has the same mindset as you do man. He tried getting this guy in August FFS.

I really think Veach is simply trying to drive the price down before the deadline to get a deal. It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens in the next 5 weeks.

I believe that it is more likely that Earl Thomas is a Chief than anywhere else. There’s more pressure being put on Seattle than anybody.

Thomas wants to get the **** out of there yesterday. His friends are gone and so is his trust from his franchise.

They’ll get rid of him if he presses the issue enough.

Hopefully this deal gets done sooner rather than later. Seattle needs to move on ASAP

That's what I was thinking. Shorter term deal that way we could get out of it when Mahomes needs paid.

They won't move a first rounder. Right or wrong.

Frankly, I think it's pretty ****ing dumb of the Seahawks to not take a 2nd at this point.

Sassy Squatch 09-24-2018 09:06 PM

Yeah, I didn't expect him to press the issue THIS hard. He wants out badly if he's not going to be paid and he's making it pretty hard for the Seahawks to give him the extension he wants with that additude.

You better be right or I'm gonna find out where you live and give your address to Billay.

This. Take a second and move on. Get rid of the distraction and madness in the locker room. They got rid of everyone else. He's not 26, he's 29 and needs a new deal.
