In 23 scoreless innings covering his four minor-league starts, the 23-year-old allowed just seven hits and seven walks and struck out 44. On Thursday, he reached the 90-pitch plateau, throwing 62 strikes, and John Mozeliak, the president of baseball operations who was on hand, was delighted.
“He worked extremely quickly, he obviously was very aggressive in the strike zone and he was completely overpowering at times, said Mozeliak, who said Reyes was clocked as high as 99 miles an hour. “He had everything working.” |
